I think cylindrical might be a panorama without top and bottom. When we divide a panorama into 6 cubes, the top and bottom cubes are "black".

Thanks Doug for shaing the news!
I read the commonts and wish to share my viewpoints. First, the major issue is quality. Many here don't like the quailty of sample tours but from the article of washington post we can see that the clients like them. I would like to believe this is becuase those clients were the first time to see panoramas and attracted by this unique style. They did not care the quality so far because even low quality is enough to show their facilities. At this stage, what they like is only a NEW media to show and do not reach the level to care quality.
From this we can see that panorama is still a strange industry for many common people. Put is another word, panorama field in the free competition time and even low qualty is sufficient to meet requirements of some clients. But as more and more people know about panorama, low quality won't satisfy their needs just like the development of camera. When most people don't have camera, anyone who has a camera may earn money by taking photos for others. But after almost everyone gets one, low level photography can not find custmers any more. The only way out is to become professional photographers. And I am certain that this will be the same way for panorama photography. Now google and Microsoft both pushed out pano product, the panorama will become more and more popular. This is a really good chance for us pano photographers. Second, Doug quoted data of automobiles to show low quality panos still have market. I don't think this is a proper comparison. I prefer to compare the development of pano photography with common photography, just like I said above.
