Flash panorama Help

Dylan,
The Flashpanoramas forum flashpanoramas.com/forum/ has a wealth of information on building up the xml. I am still trying to master this program as well. If you know the trick to saving the xml from a vt then you can look at this info to get ideas. Some authors restrict this and I am not saying just copy someone’s code. Seeing the code is a big help though.

Good Luck,

People may look more natural but you run the risk of someone suing because they did not authorize the use of their image. Photography for commercial purposes (like Doug's) must use model releases or risk a lawsuit. Getting photography releases from all present is time consuming. Also, who is responsible the photographer or client? I shoot allot of apartments and my client has the manager ask all people in the photography area to leave during the shooting of that area. I agree that a pano of say the pool would look better with people swimming. You could always hire actors but then who pay for that? Hard enough getting clients just to pay for good panos.

My 2 cents,

The monopod legs work great if you are on a flat surface. If you are on a slope then best to not deploy them. These two panos were taken on the 682B with 303 manfrotto head.

Lighthouse pano legs in and Hall of State pano legs out.

I like having it as an option.

BJ,
What is your goal for distributing your panoramas? If you are starting a personal business then your own website might look more professional to clients.

Recently saw a woman shooting a real estate pano in my neighborhood. Looked at realtor.com a few days later to check out her work. She is shooting for Obeo one of the national panoramic companies here in the US. Perhaps this forum does not interest her.

Just my thoughts,

Shadoguy,
The Sigma 8mm on a Canon w/crop sensor needs 4 shots around + zenith and nadar. You can do it with 3 if you have a head that will slant your camera to the side I think 60 degrees. More complicated in the stitching as well. I believe the Nikon 10.5 needs 6 around + z and n on a crop sensor. I have the Sigma 8 and shoot 4 and clone out the top and bottem in post production.

Best VT software for Real Estate?

Tri3,
Just keep in mind return on time invested. There are national VT companies offering tours for under $100.00 in many areas. As noted before you will likely in your area need two skins per tour. One with branding and one without for the MLS. Check with your local MLS for details. The MLS for my area is very strick about the branding and will delete any tours they find out of compliance and the realtors face a possible fine. If you spend to much time shooting or processing real estate VT's then you end up working for less than $15.00/hr at the prices most realtors will pay for your services. The ability to create templates to save time is key whatever software you choose.

The $19.95 Realtor.com fee is charged by them no matter who hosts the VT. It is a pass through charge to the agents. I charge slightly more for that fee to help divert the cost of my credit card service fees. The tour you link to is nice but there is now information about the home location or agent information.
I am a member of VRGuild and use their services to host and build my real estate work. It is all template driven that you create for each agent. I find it saves time in the production process. That means higher profit per tour for me and more time to work on other projects. Here is a home I shot last week.

You also select from multiple viewers for the panos. I use PT Viewer java but you can choose I See Media java, Immervision java, QuickTime or upload a flash file. They are @ vrguild.com for more info. The system also generates marketing collateral that the agents can download and print or email out to customers.

US panoramic network

Greetings All,
After my post I have thought that the pricing question may be premature. My reasons for asking price is I am trying to get a feeling of what a national average price / scene might be. Pano shot with a dslr and fisheye lens with exposure blending if needed for interiors. Payment might have to vary depending on geographic location. I can price fairly for my market and expenses (Texas) but have no idea about cost in New York, LA or other areas on the map. That is what I am trying to find out so I can make a valid bid for the work. Maybe this could be a new thread.

This project has nothing to do with Circle Pix or any other national VT provider. That is why at this time I cannot give all the details for fear that a national provider could steal my idea. Who knows who reads this forum anonymously? To my knowledge neither my client nor its competitors have ever thought of using panos in their product line in this way. I have a nineteen-year work history with my client doing video production. They are changing and evolving their products to keep up with the ever-changing electronic world and that is where I thought panoramic photography would be a natural fit.

This work would not be an exclusive contract. If you were available to shoot in a certain time frame then you could. If not then I hope to have more than one photographer per area to fill the needs. My client does have a sales force in the thousands so there could be alot of work.

So to modify my request, if you are a professional panoramic photographer would you be interested in shooting in your local area as jobs came up? My initial goal is to see if I can even get enough photographers together to cover all of their territories. Flying a few photographers around the country for the work would not be cost effective. Again, contact off list if interested and include a link to your work if you like. We can talk price as things evolve.

US panoramic network

Greetings All,
I am looking to form a network of panoramic photographers nationwide in the US for a client of mine. My company needs photographers available to shoot panoramic images as my client sells them. This is not real estate or hotels. Sorry at this time I cannot reveal the whole scope of the project. I you are interested please notify me off list with your ballpark per scene pricing for panoramic images and local service area.

tommy at turnerimaging.com

I am looking at pricing this per scene plus expenses (mileage and such) and you would bill my company and deliver stitched panos to me.
My goal is to deliver high quality work so looking for photographers with dslr and fisheye for full spherical panos.

This project is very much in its infancy but there is genuine interest from my client.

Look forward to hearing from interested parties.
Thanks,
Tommy Turner

DaMan,
Now would be a good time to test your theory of green and file sizes if your part of the world has not started to change color. If all is still green find and area with green grass and tree cover. Take a pano now and then go back and take a pano once the grass is brown and the leaves have fallen. I find panos taken in winter with many trees are just as large as taken in the summer when there is green. I have no scientific proof but the bare trees have as much or more detail than the trees with leaves. This lends me to lean toward the detail not color side of the argument.

Found these old files from a real estate job. The agent had me reshoot once spring arrived. This is as close as I have to test with. Both original images resized and compressed the same.

size 84.2k

size 76.7k

Not much difference in size IMO.
Just my unscientific 2 cents

I'm in if you can find a maker. Don't know the cost but it should come down if more buy in. I would think $20 US or less considering the total cost of the monopod.

Hans,
I have the same monopod that you used in the gondola panos. Where did you find the part to adapt the bottom of the monopod from the legs to standard camera thread?

Thanks
