These would have to be detectable on all types of computer and smartphone. As far as I can see, Digimarc is for Smartphones.

Perhaps it's asking the impossible, but what I would really like is some notification that comes with the image directing the viewer to my site without them needing extra software. However, it can't be part of the image. Any ideas?

Thanks guys, I have an open mind on this one. A visible watermark communicates the images' ownership very clearly without any detection software being required by the viewer, but I reckon they often spoil the picture.
A hidden one allows traceability and (obviously) doesn't ruin the image. However, for Digimarc at least, the viewer would require Digimarc software or photo editing software to deteict it. Most people wouldn't have those.
Are their any more pros and cons to each system?
I'm even considering the possibility of using both, to make sure the ownership is easily communicated without software on their part, but also for it to be traceable.

Anyone any info here? The only sample images I can come across are either for printed material or where the watermark is still quite obvious. I have looked for samples, incl. from Digimarc where the watermark is not obvious but can be picked up by my mac, but can't find any. Anyone know where I can get them?

Does anyone use this service? Re devices it can be used with, all I can find on their website is descriptions of how it can be used with smartphones.
If somebody downloads my image onto a Mac, PC or Tablet, will the watermark be detected?
Also, can I search for the watermarks using my mac or PC as well as a smartphone?
What other service providers are good here?

When I shoot a pano on a bright day, to avoid a sky overexposure, I set the exposure to match the brightest part of the image which underexposes a lot of the other stuff.
The same happens when I shoot buildings lit up at night (often streetlights intrude in the original shot). I know I can edit for all this stuff in CS5, but is there any way I can avoid it in the images in the first place? I want to keep the sharpness of of the original images. I use the Canon 5D with 17-40 or 70-200 L Lenses.

Thanks guys! Guess what? I finally managed to retest my theory in the way that ye suggested, and according to this image, it worked out exactly as ye had said! I'll be testing it more, but despite my protestations, this actually suits me much much better. Fingers crossed, I can sell the old lens now. All eyes raised to heaven can go back to normal now! .

Marcus, I'd prefer you'd say things to me rather than about me. I'd be delighted if there was no difference. Nothing would suit me better. To show exactly what I meant, I've tried taking the same scene with different focal lengths and cropping the larger one to the same dimensions in CS5 to that of the smaller one to see for myself. For some reason, I'm unable to match them in size measurements. Perhaps someone could take me through that? I'd gladly put them up here.
The images supplied look very much the same, but I notice these things particularly in background mountains. Do ye have any comparisons with those?
Regards,
Fergal.

That's a close up image. What I'm shooting is miles away. I've tried shooting these using both lenses. For some reason, I'm having difficulty cropping the 17mm image to match the area taken with the 135mm. I set the crop size to the same measurements as the 135mm image size in CS5, but it won't cover the full equivalent area of the 135mm image.

I've read that the sharpness technology for phone cameras is proceeding much faster currently than that for sensor cameras. No mention in the article was specifically made of DSLRs. What are your opinions on this?

Yes, I can see what ye are saying. It's very hard to blend "imported" images into a pic.

Often you get a beautiful location, lakes, hills etc, but it might lack something colourful in the foreground, say flowers etc. Are there any sites that provide shots of flowers or colourful plants that are royalty free and suitable for inclusion like this?

I always reckon that what we are getting in a shot is not an exact copy of the scene, but rather our equipments' interpretation of it and that it's up to us to manipulate that interpretation to get the image we want.
