Heading to Melbourne on the weekend for the Grand Prix but it might be hard to get them from all angles. I'll see if I have time though

Mate - I work in IT and have been using it since the beta. Steer clear of Vista in any guise and jump on Windows 7. One of the better OSs that MS has put out. I run all the normal stuff CS4 + PT GUI Pro 64 + Pano2VR + FPP and it works great.

I've had the D300 and 10.5mm for years and it is the best rig. Have only just upgraded to D3s and 16mm which I can also use for sport. Get the D300 or D700 and you won't regret it.

What size lens are you using to do your freehand pano in this link - obviously fisheye but what?? I haven't tried a free hand spherical before but have done a standard 180. What is your technique?? It seems you have no parallax problems even without a Tripod?? Love it

Thanks everyone. I have no problems producing very high quality panoramas and have done it as a hobby for a number of years for kicks. Everyone loves them and I believe businesses and government agencies will pay for the service.
My website is very new and is a bit of an experiment at the moment. I run my own webserver out of my shed so hosting is very simple and quick once the site is setup.
I have a full time IT job currently that pays well but the day that the panorama business makes more - I'll focus on that 100%. I understand that marketing is a priority and I have friends in marketing and media who can help me out. I also have friends in the real estate business so that should help.
Doug Aurand - was just wondering what software you use for your real estate virtual tours??
I am loving this forum it is full of people willing to help each other to further the panoramic community as a whole and not as an individual.
Trausti - I bought Flashificator the other night not realising you need to buy FPP as well. You should do a bundle deal on buying both. I only bought your software due to your posts here to see what it was about but you need to do some work on you website - it doesn't explain much about Flashificator. Yes the forums do but most people want to have it on the main page. Also your links on the main page didn't seem to work.
Thanks all

I guess this really depends on what you are provide and how much your time is worth. I'm starting a pano photography business soon. I would be interested in what someone roughly charges for say a 5 shot virtual tour of a hotel.

Congrats Doug - 2010 is looking good. I am about to start my own panoramic business in Australia. I'm sure there is a huge untapped market here and I want to jump on it. Any advice for getting the word out about what panoramic photography can do for our clients?

I'm starting a panoramic business - HELP

Hi all,
I'm starting a panoramic business in Australia and needs some help. First a bit of background. I spent 15 years in the Army travelling the world and have been taking panos since 2000 (with a one megapixel camera and no tripod or fisheye). I have progressed a fair way since then and now sport a Nikon D300 + D3s, 10.5mm and 16mm, DiGPS Pro, Nodal Ninja 5, PTGUI, Pano2VR and Photoshop CS4.
Seeing as I just got the D3s + 16mm I am having a few paralax issues but will fix that this weekend.
My questions
- I have seen heaps of websites that show the panoramas marked on Google Earth which is exactly what I want to do. Are people getting the code custom written and if so who and how much. Like this one - www.singaporevr.com/map/map.html
- I am using Pano2VR to convert my .jpgs to .swf or .mov but is there something better? I'd like to customise my templates with my own logo as well?
Thanks everyone for any help you can provide. My website which is in the prcess of being built is www.ixl360.com.au

Thanks all. Have been doing handheld panos for around 8 yrs now and am very impressed with difference the pano head makes. Just suprised how easy these images stitch in PTGUI. The 10.5mm is a great lens and I plan on making a stack of panos in the Solomon Islands of WWII sites around Guadalcanal Island

I'm heading off overseas next week. I couldn't get the sunex or 8mm before leaving. I took a punt on buying the Nikon 10.5mm as everyone raves about it. Took my first pano today with the D300 and NN3II. The pano looks great - yes I need to take 6 + 1 shots but PTGUI didn't need me to do anything except put in the images and pick all the defaults. The image is 10874x5437 pixel and is 66MB - will have to compress for the web but on DVD in HTML/Quicktime it would rock.
Love the results and it couldn't have been easier. Just waiting for a licence for PANO2VR and I'm ready.
Happy to answer any questions

I'm thinking of going with the Sigma 8mm for the following reasons: - It's cheaper in Australia - I can get it overnight from Sydney - Image quality looks just as good as the Sunex - Going to use HDR so exposure isn't a big deal - I'm mainly making panos for websites so resolution isn't a big issue

I've had a chat with Sunex and they have said a number of people are using the Nodal Ninja with their lens. Surely I can create a bigger pano by using more than 3 photos which the NN will allow.
Surely you can use almost any lens with the NN as long as you set it to the right spot for the Entrance Pupil. I don't like the idea of having to take 6+2 photos with the Nikon 10.5 - extra processing + time to create the pano. The 8mm does sound good but I think I'll stick with the Sunex.

Sorry forgot to ask - do you even need to use the top rail or are others just using it in portrait on the bottom rail? If so what is the setting on the bottom rail.
Thanks again
