HDR image creation with PT Gui
HDR image creation with PT Gui

Hi,

I have a question with regards to PT Gui and HDR image creation workflow for a panorama. With exposures that are very dark or very light, will creating a template with a well exposed set of images, obviously of the same scene, be able to be then applied to the aforementioned extreme exposures to be properly stitched?

thanks,

I agree with that, OTOH is no need to start a war for something that even not exists in first place,

Well, it all comes down to worth. Even as an amateur, taking that kind of money only shows that the person taking the job doesn't understand intellectual property rights, has no business sense whatsoever, and doesn't value their own work. This kind of job is what brings prices of this kind of photography down hurting the whole market. That is exactly why I am being so harsh. This is a typical, "You do all the work for a cheap rate and I'll get the lion's share of the money by selling the finished product." That's exactly why other posters and myself are reacting to this offer with such disdain.

If you, mrclyde, don't have the money or resources to do this project properly don't try and get others to do it for you with some cheap offer cloaking it as if you are doing the "amateur photographer" a favour, when in reality, you are doing them a disservice by taking their work for virtually nothing and praying on their lack of knowledge of how copyright law works.

Yeah, people accepting lower prices for their work does not help the industry as a whole because it is degrading everyone by distorting what it costs to run a successful business. No professional is going to do this and then turn all the rights over to you (a buyout)to use as you wish and make money selling their creations for a measly 100 bucks. At least no one who values their own profession and time. I really think you need to rethink what you are asking to put it politely. I'm sorry, but I think you should know better as a professional!

Ya, I would really avoid Dell. I didn't have the greatest experience with them. Emachines is another disaster as well, so avoid them too.

Good luck,

Thanks John.

I also found a discussion about this very topic here on the board (doesn't hurt to search before one asks hey!).

Hope this helps others with the same questions I have/had.

Cheers,

Hi,

How do I put a google earth map of where the tour I am shooting is? I have seen many examples of papes having a tour and a google earth map below showing exactly where in the city the tour has been shot. Very cool!

Thanks,

Stay away form real estate.

Why?

Focus on clients that can see what you do as a marketing tool. They realted money to it and they will pay.

Who do you mean if you don't mind me asking? B&B's, Hotels, Restaurants?

Hi,

I am thinking of starting a business doing virtual reality tours in my area of Canada that I live in. I have some basic questions to others around the globe as to how you are making your living doing vr tours:

Can this be a full time gig?

How is your business split. In other words do you spend most or all your time on real estate tours or do you do business tours or sell your images from scenic views or work for magazines or whatever?

Can you pros give some percentages as to how you spend most of your time shooting?

Thanks,

Definetly go dual core and lots of ram. You'll notice a big performance increase over your Athlon XP 2000 processor, especially multi-tasking and using any multi-threaded apps. The raptor drives rock. As far as the Window$ OS, God help us all as they add more useless garbage to their OS that no one needs to get everyone to upgrade (hence Window$ hardware certification). Who knows maybe Flight Simulator runs in the background while your computer is running; I know for a fact they, Microsoft, did this with Office so it would suck up more resources. devil

If you build it yourself, have Windows XP Pro or even Win 2000 Pro and are using it for nothing but work and not going on the internet I wouldn't upgrade the OS.

If you are going on the Internet, then prob XP Pro with a good firewall and antivirus. I don't know about Vista, but hear it has some problems with some apps, so waiting for service pack 1 to come out is always a good idea unless you need Vista for whatever reason or I guess are going to transition to 64 bit. And don't over look your motherboard as that is the heart of your system!

Good Luck and let us know what you get!

Ya that helps Frank. I have another question and that is, do you think the sigma 8 is as good a lens as the Nikon 10.5?

Eg. does the sigma soften at the edges, chromatic aberrations, etc. Work flow definetly leans towards the sigma with having to take less shots! It is just a question of the quality of the images between the two.

Thanks again,

Richard

Thanks bigwade.

So there is no question the new sigma 8mm is the one to go with because on another forum one photographer said he found his nikon 10.5 on a 400d to be almost as good as his 5d with canon fisheye. Any thoughts from those that have tried both lenses?

Hi,

I am thinking of getting a new setup and am looking at the Canon 400d. I want to create virtual tours and HDR images. Which fisheye would be best for this the Sigma 8mm or the Nikon 10.5 mm? The virtual tours are probably more important.

Thanks!
