Landscape is not the main criteria. It depeneds on whether there are objects close (few meters or less) to your camera's lenses.
In a typical landscape panorama - objects are usually distant from the camera, and that is the reason why panoramic head is not "a must". (See for example the mountains on this panorama: www.panoye.com/panorama.837-parque-natural-de-red...)

Depends... If there are object close to your camera on the panorama - you'll probably need a panoramic head.
If your panoramas are typical landscape panoramas - then there should be no problem stitiching (see my panoramas here: www.panoye.com/user.101-puzz.html )

Try autostitch. Very easy to use. If you can excuse me for my poor english, you can try this quick tutorial:

You can try panoye (at www.panoye.com). It is still in beta but I'm working hard to make it usable You can upload any type of equirectangular panorama (partial, cylindrical or spherical) and see it with javascript and/or flash panoramic players.
At the moment the only limit is 4 panoramas daily => cca 120 panoramas monthly.

I suppose your question is about equirectangular panoramic images without a (java/qt/flash) viewer?
If it is a very wide panorama (for example a full 360-degree cylindric) -- the only way is make sure your vertical size (height) is small compared to width.
If your panorama is not that wide (in terms of angle-degrees) -- maybe this thread can help you: www.panoguide.com/forums/qna/4634/

Hans Nyberg said: How do I get them to update Panoramas.dk like this.
Hi Hans,
One of the many google apps is -- google reader. With google reader it knows how many people are subscribed to how many sites. RSS feeds from sites with lots of subscribes are frequently visited by googlebots -- because with RSS/feeds google knows when news come out.
This should be your first step -- add RSS on panoramas.dk! (Maybe it is somewhere, but I can't find it)
Cheers, puzz www.panoye.com

Half a year ago a friend of mine asked me for such a php vr engine. Since I was working on something similar (my hobby project -- www.panoye.com) we started programming this php-vr app. But then, due to lack of time, we abandoned the project... ;(
At the time we didn't know if make it open source, a commercial app or a hosted service (where anybody can register, create and publish VR tours with custom web page layouts).
Now, I'm just a programmer with a passion to panoramic photography and I'm not familiar with all the software you professionals use. There probably already are applications for creating virtual tours as html pages. But what do you think -- would a php-vr-engine be something interesting for you?
TK
PS. Sorry for my bad english

Doug Aurand said: When I click on Java Support the report reads; Java Support Yes 99.22% 15,799 No .78% 124
99.22% as a number is too big to be true. First of all google analytics tell you the data only for the users who have javascript enabled (most but not all). Second, it don't tell you which version of java jre is installed - because javascript on some browsers can't detect it. And, this statistic count even MS java: Many, especially older PCs, have Microsoft VM installed by default. Microsoft VM is version 1.1.4 and very buggy and slow. (Many java-based panorama viewers need at least version 1.3+).

You can't do that. Java applets run in a secure sandbox -- ie they have some security limitations. One is that the applet can download files only from the server where the applet is hosted. Applets can dowload files from other servers only if they are signed with a valid certificate and if the local java installations allow them to do that.
So, the only way to do that is to have the ptviewer.jar on the same server on flickr ;(
I tried the same thing with images on Amazon S3 server. But it didn't work. So, i had to copy the html file with applet-code and ptviewer.jar on the same server (look Vincen's panorama at: www.panoye.com/panorama-show.185.html -- click on "Full panorama (java)" on the right side).
PS. Nice panoramas!

I'm not making java viewer, but javascript viewer PTviewer is nice and I use it on my site. But not everybody has installed java. That's why I wanted to make an alternative javascript viewer.
For example, this is a javascript version: tinyurl.com/35dyep
...and the same with PTviewer: tinyurl.com/2le66c
(I had to use tinyurl, because it seems this forum doesn't recognize my links).
Ofcourse, it looks much better with PTviewer. With javascript there is no zoom (as you already noted). But, if you don't have java installed -- javascript viewer still works (at least I hope it works )
Thanks for your comment.
And, of course -- happy new year!

Hi all,
I'm programming my javascript 360°-panorama viewer. I made two viewers with different navigation types. My plan is to make one of them default for my site, but I'm not sure which one. They can be seen here:
www.panoye.com/blog/2008/01/panorama-navigation-i...
I need an advice: Which viewer do you like: draggable or mouseover?
