I have noticed how a few people on this forum are constantly trying to out-do eachother and quoting eachother on this and that.

just chill out guys it shouldnt matter if someone is wrong or this part of what you said isnt correct, or i do it this way and your way is wrong etc etc. We should just remember that people come here to learn at all sorts of levels and they dont need to put off by in house bickering. It will simply drive them away to more friendlier grounds

Immervision and confusion 2 words that marry each other so well

If you want my advice stay WELL AWAY from immervision. Zero customer support and almost every pano i try and view created with this (product smile )fails to load.

just try getting an answer from them after you have purchased devil devil devil

Printing a pano help/advice needed with size printing and photoshop

Thanks John for taking the time to give a full explanation as always. Its starting to sink in (i think) and i guess i will just have to produce test prints like you suggest and read over and over again until i fully understand.

Printing and sizes and pixels seems a whole new thing to learn about and i guess im going to have to get my head stuck in to it to fully understand it.

What would be a straight forward method for taking a picture on my Canon 30d and then printing it out on a large canvas or poster size say 1000mm x 700mm. What would your method be from opening up the image in ps to resising it and saving it, perhaps if i start to understand it with 1 image then i can maybe work it out when going larger, not exactly pano stuff here but it might just make the penny drop if i know how you would go about doing this.

so from camera image to large poster size what would be a good method.

Many thanks for your time and if im ever up your way im gong to buy you a pint or two.

Is PTGUI the "BEST" stitching software

wow Matt i thought Oxford was a really posh, green countryside place in UK. Your pano www.zoomvr.com/zoom/vr/zoomvr.cfm?image=barc_h1 on first glance looks like one of those poor communities in China or something where 10,00000 people live per square mile. I really should travel more smile

I like the idea of zooming in and the way it keeps the quality but after 3 clicks my laptop starts to struggle and wont load it up any further, probably my laptop not your pano (any tips for this)

As regards to the question is ptgui the best, im hardly in a position to comment as im only an amature and dont have any other product to compare it with, but ill say this. Over the 18 months or so that i have been creating these, ptgui seems to be the popular choice amongst board users and you will always get great help and advice if needed on the software, i also find it straight forward enough to use to get the results i want.

PTGUI for me

Hello John and thanks for answering my concerns.

I have always created the image at 4000x2000 in ptgui should i not be? this was the way i was told on these very boards some time ago? blush Im now using a Canon 30d but again will be moving to the 40d very soon.

John how can i print my image at a resolution greater than 43 ppi and what should i be printing it at, how did you get to the figure of 43 or rather how did i?.

Also should i be creating them greater than 300 ppi

and should the local camera shop be ok with me marching in and asking to put a 100meg image into their machine laugh

Your knowledge and advice is priceless John thanks

Hi i make 360's using ptgui and create them at 4000 x 2000 i then open with photoshop and crop at 300dpi and save the file to 40inch in height this gives it a width of 93.147 inch, 27944 x 12000 in pixel size (yep really large) i end up with a file size of 80+meg.

Just want to know if this is the correct method for doing this as me and printing dont get on devil . Reason for trying this size pano print is i spotted a website that prints sizes like this off and thought id try it, i imagine the frame maker is going to make a fortune from me smile .

When i open photoshop and use the crop tool the maximum size it goes to is 10" x 8" is there a way to up this size or do i just have to put in the measurments i require? trouble is doing it this way i end up with a size that doesnt fit the sizes the website printer states.

Any help in printing pano's at this kind of size i am all ears.

Thanks for reading

Hans You need an editor.
Try Audacity audacity.sourceforge.net/
Its free and very easy to use

thanks Hans i i have managed to finally get sound on one of my pano's.

if the mp3 file size is 5mb and the pano 2 does this combine makeing a 7mb movie and if so this is way to big isnt it? I reduced the sound file with the programme Hans recommended but that was easy because it was just street scene sound and i used about 30 seconds of it and looped it. But the next sound file i want reducing is a music track, this is currently 5mb in size and i cant just cut it like i did the first one as i want the track to be able to play to the end

question is how do i reduce the file size of the track without cutting the song short do i compress it somehow? if so how

Hope there someone clever enough to work this one out

Thanks Panomaniac

I had this problem a few times i ptgui, my pano would look all weird when i created it, i went back to the project assistant and i could see that images 3 and 5 or whatever it was was rotated 90 degress so i just went to the source images tab and again i could see they where rotated so i just deleted them and inserted them again and it worked for me.

Ive had it a few times so i think its just a glitch but im no expert i only do these for fun

Come on guys i thought this would have been easy for you experienced panographers to work out.

If its in the background or in the html i dont really mind or understnd i just need to know how to do it properly because clearly ive done something wrong or not done something at all as its not working.

Now it works when i double click on my page as it opens with ie. but when i launch it to my site it doesnt work? and this is what im confused about, its the what have i done or not done rather than the does pano2qtvr or panovr work with sound as i already know they do its just that i dont know how to do it properly.

Thanks guys if you could help id be a happy bunny on easter laugh

Im looking at putting a sound file in the background of a pano using pano2qtvr but what kind of file size should i be looking at, does this make a difference when viewing or waiting for the pano to upload due to size?

I have a sound file but its 8mb and seems a bit large but it runs for approx 1 minute my estimated time someone would spend viewing the pano.

Is there a way i can reduce the file size of the sound or does it make a diference and any suggestions on how to do this.

Many thanks for your time

I have used this site almost everyday to learn more about panoramic photography and 360 tours, i have created various discussions, added my opinion/knowledge now and again and even helped other members on here towards the purchase of a new lens. I have never swore, never been abusive, and enjoyed the site a lot. But after James's removal of my pano (despite him thinking it wasnt one), then removal of my post to to another thread and now he just seems to want an argument ive had enough.

I never wanted to offend him or his site but i am not going to tolerate his "its my site" attitude so goodbye panoguide

Spongebob

ps Dorin keep up the excellent work
