@Henri ("Never edit edges of an equi ...")
Well, Henri, I do know that. But also noticed that the lens-blur filter, which -I suppose- was used by Jez, affects the edges, too. Therefore my question
@Jez
Thanks for opening your "making-of" notebook a bit. Will try again ....

Thanks for sharing. I'm really attracted by this work and, after reading the blog and tutorials about 'Fake Tilt Shift', I tried to 'produce' something similar. I wonder if the 'original' was an equirectangular or not; 'cause in my case (working with an equi) I finally had a quite visible seem after the 'treatment'. Any hint?

Will do. Nice to here that. Wouldn't that be a good idea for the adjuste, too? [well, a bit offtopic in *this* thread...] Thank you Matt

Thank you Paul. Please let us know your experience. A locking option would be nice, anyway.

Hi Matt, seems, the Atom comes with a build-in click-stop system (4,6,8,... depending on lens), which is really nice and usefull. But (maybe I missed some info), is it also possible to lock the head, so it does not turn freely and unintentionaly ? (e.g., when used on monopod or on top of a highpole, with the pole turned instead of the head)

Erik, beside FPP (flashpanoramas pro) there is another player out there which is/works quite similar (quality, plugins, xml ...) You may have a look at krpano [www.krpano.com/index.php?lang=en]. Klaus, the developer, plans to release a Gui soon.
And, don't forgett to have a look at Pano2VR [www.gardengnomesoftware.com/?lang=en] which offers flash-output too and comes with (some kind of) gui, already.
Well, and of course, panosalado [www.flashpanos.com/blog/79], the new open-source flashplayer!
All four are highly customizable and quality is pretty much the same (imho).

Eugen, that's a long, ugly story. You may read more here: www.panotools.org/debunk . Please, don't mix panotools.info (Johns toy) and panotools.org (the pros tool) ! John loved to confuse people with his kind of pantools.info pseudo-wiki. Thank goodness, he stoped that now. Klaus

Hi Eugen, there was nothing of interest or value to be found at panotools.info-site. Very few forum-members, very very few postings (most of them by John himself) and an outdated and distorted wiki.
Most of panorama interested people already know, where to go. Beside other places: panoguide, panotools NG Group (tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/PanoToolsNG/) or the german Panorama-Community (www.panorama-forum.net/).
The panotools-wiki home is: wiki.panotools.org/ .

Hans, we still are talking about Flash 9 <-> Flash 10 differences ? [ and not about, how elegant various flash pano-viewers can handle bitmap limits .. ]
I did a quick net-search (tinyurl.com/5ynomt) and found this eg.: www.adobe.com/devnet/flash/articles/image_api_02.... (Well, this is about flash 8, but I suppose, the limit is the same with flash 9) It says: "Note: The maximum dimensions of a bitmap in Flash Player is limited to 2880 pixels in either direction (width or height)...... A bitmap that is 2880 x 2880 pixels, will use roughly 32MB of RAM."
Well, I'm neither a "flasher" nor a "coder"; I'm just dependent on information I get or can find. Most of flash is still a mystery to me. Maybe I'm still going wrong ....

Sorry Hans, I think, you're wrong this time. These days I'm testing krpano a bit and therefore I'm in contact with the devoleper; that's where I got some of the information from.
As far as I know, flash 9 largest bitmaps are limited to 2880x2880, whereas with flash 10 this limit will now increase to 4096x4096 or 8192x1024. So, this seems to be an improvement, indeed. (BTW: with krpano the panos are internally divided to smaller pieces, anyway).
And yes, krpano does support gigapixel panos. The krpano flash 10 - test No. 2 (krpano.com/flash10/) actually is a 300 meg pano, eg. From krpano website: "Additionally to the "piecewise" loading the panorama image can be "multi-resolution". Only the tiles of the "current"-resolution will be loaded. So it will be possible to render gigantic panoramas without loading the whole panorama."

Fatchai, have a look into devalvr.js. Somewhere about line 60 you should find this line: [ var usePurePlayer=1; //0: PTViewer is used as Java player 1: PurePlayer is used (write correct names below) ] Check correct setting. Should be "usePurePlayer=0" (for ptviewer). Hope, this will fix the problem. Regards, Klaus

Hi Jay, I'm not sure, that I fullly understood, what 'view' you're looking for, but: if you are on windows, you may try DevalVR. It offers the "invert panorama" view, which is somewhat a view at a "turning bowl". You have to 'feed' DevalVR with an equirectangular image and then activate for the "invert panorama" icon under the text-menu. As far as I remember, this should work with the standalone version and, via script, with the plugin-version, too.
