At 10 mm you should try this:

Nadir,
4 shots every 90° at -60° pitch,
8 shots every 45° at 0° pitch,
4 shots every 90° at + 60° pitch,
no zenith required

But have a look yourself, you'll find a quite helpfull lens database with this kind of information here:
www.vrwave.com/

Peter, if you are leaning towards a netbook now (easiest solution, I think)
you may have a look at a nice (commercial) product, Arturo offerd here a few days before:
www.panoguide.com/forums/commercial/8172/
It's a kind of self-running Flash-Pano-Gallery.
At the moment it only works with Pano2VR flashfiles.
He sent me a trial version and I do like the idea.

.. probably for Sigma lenses, too smile

BTW, do you know of any good programs to use for these projection conversions?

You do have it already. PTGui !! wink
Start new projekt. Load your final equirectangular as the only image.
Apply 'equirectangular' as Lens Type (Lens Setting TAB) and choose 'Little Planet' (e.g.) as projection.
There you go. smile

As far as I see, the last Adobe Camera Raw (ACR) version which works with CS3 is Vers. 4.6. [tiny.pl/hq84j]
Using the latest DNG converter should work, but have a look to the presets and choose "ACR4.6 compatibility" ...

Hi,
seems that Krpano's "Headswing - Feature" (option/parameter) could be the right 'thing' for you.
Have a look at the examples (www.krpano.com/examples/),
open the options-windows (triangle upper right) and play with the headswing-parameter (control-section).
Effect depends on parameter-setting and mouse-acceleration.

@Henri ("Never edit edges of an equi ...")

Well, Henri, I do know that.
But also noticed that the lens-blur filter, which -I suppose- was used by Jez, affects the edges, too.
Therefore my question wink

@Jez

Thanks for opening your "making-of" notebook a bit.
Will try again ....

Thanks for sharing.
I'm really attracted by this work and, after reading the blog and tutorials about 'Fake Tilt Shift', I tried to 'produce' something similar.
I wonder if the 'original' was an equirectangular or not; 'cause in my case (working with an equi) I finally had a quite visible seem after the 'treatment'.
Any hint?

Will do. Nice to here that.
Wouldn't that be a good idea for the adjuste, too?
[well, a bit offtopic in *this* thread...]
Thank you Matt

I'll see if I can try this out at the weekend..

Thank you Paul. Please let us know your experience.
A locking option would be nice, anyway.

Hi Matt,
seems, the Atom comes with a build-in click-stop system (4,6,8,... depending on lens), which is really nice and usefull.
But (maybe I missed some info), is it also possible to lock the head, so it does not turn freely and unintentionaly ?
(e.g., when used on monopod or on top of a highpole, with the pole turned instead of the head)

Erik,
beside FPP (flashpanoramas pro) there is another player out there which is/works quite similar (quality, plugins, xml ...)
You may have a look at krpano [www.krpano.com/index.php?lang=en].
Klaus, the developer, plans to release a Gui soon.

And, don't forgett to have a look at Pano2VR [www.gardengnomesoftware.com/?lang=en] which offers flash-output too and comes with (some kind of) gui, already.

Well, and of course, panosalado [www.flashpanos.com/blog/79], the new open-source flashplayer!

All four are highly customizable and quality is pretty much the same (imho).

I thought is all down... Sorry! But what do you mean by "distorted wiki"?

Eugen,
that's a long, ugly story. You may read more here: www.panotools.org/debunk .
Please, don't mix panotools.info (Johns toy) and panotools.org (the pros tool) !
John loved to confuse people with his kind of pantools.info pseudo-wiki.
Thank goodness, he stoped that now.
