Recent Microsoft and Flash Problems

Doug,

The first thing I did was resize the image in Photoshop (thats the graphic designer in me -lol) but when I viewed it in FPP it was all messed up. I decided then to take the cubic image & convert it back to a spherical. Please note I only have Panoweaver 5.0 for stitching. Then I resized the spherical in photoshop, brought it back into Panoweaver and reconverted back into a cubic. Then everything worked fine.

Hans,

I wasn't thinking....I work so much with Tourweaver that my math was wrong. Technically my FPP images are 5000 x 2500 Spherical but I forgot I converted them to Cubic for FPP (stripes) which is 9552 x 1592 (over the limit).

I reconverted to 4250 x 2125 Spherical which landed me in at 8118 x 1353 Cubic.

In this time and age with high speed connections and bigger bandwidth aren't we suppose to be moving forward and not backwards? No Kudos to Adobe for putting these restrictions on Flash.

Thanks again Hans for your insight!

Now I need to work out the Tourweaver issue.

Regards,

Bob

Thanks Hans and Smooth,

Uninstalled all flash plug-ins and reinstalled the latest Flash Player version 9,0,124,0

No luck. The behavior is still the same. And as far as my FPP panos go, I can't even view them online or locally.

This amazes me. How can something work perfectly for 6 months and then stop working? I'll post if I figure anything else out.

FYI...My panos are 4000 x 2000 Non-Cubic (Tourweaver Flash)
and 5000 x 2500 Non-Cubic (FPP)

I wanted to know if any of the forum members are having any problems with their Flash Produced tours using Internet Explorer.

I use Tourweaver 3.0 Pro and Flash Panorama. My Tourweaver Tours which worked fine 2 weeks ago are now sticking in full screen mode and my Flash Panorama tours aren't even visible anymore.

I'm running Windows XP media edition with automatic updates enabled and IE 7.0.

I noticed that the Tourweaver flash tours work fine in Firefox. The Flash Panoramam Tours do not work in Firefox at all.

I was just at one of my clients and checked their computer running IE and the same thing happened.

Is this a windows thing? I have three computers with copies of my tours running locally and the problem is still there.

I also checked on my Vista system but everything seems ok there. Any input would be appreciated.

Can anyone tell me what flash software this website is using for the panos? I like the customization that was done to the flash. Here is the address

Thanks Hans,

I'm going to try the Adobe CameraRaw for my conversions next time and see how that works out.

In the Canon software, you can highlight the entire session and apply the settings to all images without the need for pasting to each individual one.

As far as PTGui goes...I am certainly not opposed to using that software. At the time I had a rather large job come in with roughly 160 seperate tours. I was looking for quality and speed without a long learning curve. I purchased a 360Precision Head to mate with my Canon 5D and the 15mm Fisheye.

When testing different software, Panoweaver seemed to be the easiest at the time hence my choice. The Pano Head and software allowed me to create a simple workflow and complete my job with no problems.

When I have a little time on my hands I'm definitely going to start exploring the possibilities of PTGui.

Rick,

I ran into the exact same problems using a Canon EOS 5D and the Canon EF 15mm f.28 Fisheye lens. Although I love this combination, I noticed during many of my shoots that the ceiling was almost always 1-2 f stops lighter.

I've also heard from many other user having the same problem. A problem with camera design perhaps? Who knows. Anyway, here's how I fixed the problem.

I shoot my images in RAW mode and use the supplied Canon Digital Photo Professional Software.

1) I apply the same white balance settings to all images.
2) Then I take the ceiling shot and adjust the Brightness adjustment down 1 or 2 steps (the software uses a slider)
3) I then stitch the images in Panoweaver and they come out perfect.

This simple proceedure worked rather quickly for me. In panoweaver, you can replace any individual image in series (without reloading all the images) and continue stitching so if you need to make an additional tweek in the RAW editor, the turnover time is fast.

The Things I Do For Money

I thought I would post this as the forum members might get a laugh out of it....

I was asked by my township to do a virtual tour nearby a water tower. They were given permission to set up a microwave communications network on the tower. They wanted to make sure they had line-of-site to their target buildings.

What they didn't tell me was that they were sending me up a ladder truck to do it!

No problem I thought....I climbed down the length of the ladder and got into this little bucket. They handed my equipment to me (it was already set up) and proceeded to elevate me 100FT in the air.

What I didn't realize was that the self-leveling bucket moved with the slightest amount of wind and god-forbid you take a single step and the bucket would really start rocking!

So I set up my tri-pod and timed my shots in-between rocks (go figure). It was a nightmare to stitch but they were happy with the results.

I would have much rather climbed up the water tower and done the tour but the powers that be wouldn't allow it.

enjoy!

How do I........
How do I........

Okay, this may seem like a simple question but I'm not sure how to do this.

I've recently got my new pano rig and have been taking some nice interior panos but I suffer from the same issues....window overexposure

Today at a shoot, I decided to take some bracketed shots at (-2, 0, +2) because this home had walls of windows.

Shooting in the RAW mode has helped me alot to adjust my images but I'm not sure how to combine (or blend) a set of three to average out the best picture

So my question for the forum is how do I do this? Is there any special software that does this?

Is there any special or proper technique to doing this?

I usually apply my settings evenly (to my set of pano pics except for the top shot) in my raw converter so how does combining the images effect the overall blending between shots? Can I still remain in the RAW mode while doing this or must I convert them to another format and do this in a photoshop type program?

Sorry for all the questions and I thank the members of this forum for sharing their knowledge as I truely have no clue how to do this.

Which adapter for Nikon lenses on Canon EOS 5D?

Christoph,

Just a suggestion...If you spent all that $$$$ on a Canon EOS 5D, why not just stick with the Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye?

It seems like alot of trouble cutting off the lens shade & finding an adapter just to save a few shots.

I've been shooting with the 5D and the EF 15mm and I've been getting incredible results (6 + T + B).

You were looking for alternatives so I thought I might throw something different at you.

Thanks for the comments guys.
Smooth, yes....I used Panoweaver 4.0. So far, there has been zero issues with stitching. I like ptgui but I'm still learning it and Panoweaver was a little more user friendly for me.

Juann - I'm using 5D, Canon EF 15mm f/2.8 Fisheye Lens & 360 Precision Pano Head. 6 + T + B. I didn't bother stitching the bottom on my tour however because there wasn't anything interesting to look at.

I wish I could post something interesting that's comment worthy but I mostly shoot model homes (boring). This is actually my second attempt at the images as I totally messed up the first batch by not shooting in RAW mode.

I'm still trying to adjust to the new equipment and I'm sure it will be a while before I come close to getting good at it but I would like to hear anyones comments on my first try.
