Hi!
I like to use SPI-V (Spiffy) for my motion-entranced fullscreen panos like www.klausesser.de/TurmSpf.html Spiffy has some very cute options like dark/light leveling, sharp/unsharp transition and some others. It´s a bit complicated in use - but one can learn it.

Hi!
Are you using a battery grip? That may be a bit too much - but the NN3 is a great tool, i mean! I used it for some months before i started to use a modified Manfrotto SPH for using heavy lenses. The NN3 didn´t ever produce inacceptable results. Related to the price and the size and the ability to collapse it and let it constantly stay in the camera-case it´s really unbeatable i mean!

Sorry, Hans - no!
I´m using APP as well as PTGui. Both on a G5 DP 2x2GHz, 8GB RAM.
I use PTUi only (!) when it comes to geometrical very structured pictures. APP in this cases does quite "too much" - instead of putting CPs on clear structures it puts them between them, where ever it finds subpixels and so on. Setting detection-quality to "low" helps almost in every case.
Speed is - in my feeling - better in APP as it is in PGTGui - definitely not less!
One (!) of the points i hate in PTGui is it´s refusing pictures which size differs only one or two pixels from the others. In my eyes that´s not acceptable - because i do some preparations in PS or Photomatix before stitching.
PTGui is a very good stitcher - no question. It has it´s place and i like it too. But APP in my eyes is the "next generation" . .
Especially for highres-stitching and perspective-corrections and so on.
I know it works also in PTGui - but less elegant i mean . .

Hey Phil!
No - i shot manually with a slightly modified Manfrotto SPH. Stitched in AutoPanoPro.
But in fact i´m working on a motorized head which will be controllable/programmable via Bluetooth and fits up to 300mm lenses. And which doesn´t cost a fortune . . .

Agree!
VR means "Virtual Reality" - and that´definitely not, what we are dealing with as panorama-photographers.
"Fullscreen panoramas" hits it almost precisely. "HDVR" is kidding: it´s neither "HD" nor is it "VR"
As Hans said: promotion business.
best, Klaus
btw.: something really "HD" : 2GB file, 7m wide @150dpi., 200 shots. These are screenshots.

Hi John!
Yes - i realized that recently when i tried PTGui. Afterwards I just was very pleased about APP´s handling that point and wanted to communicate it. That´s all . . .

Hi Tom!
I agree with what smooth said before!
I don´t know PTGui much - i use AutoPanoPro. Here an option exists which is really georgeous: the "vertical line" tool. You can draw lines along all the non-verticals in your pano-editor window you want to be exact vertical and hit "enter". APP corrects/undistorts your whole pano perfectly. The sane you can do with horizontals - if you couldn´t shoot right-angled a wall or so. You draw a line along the non-horizontal part in your picture which you want to be straght horizontal and hit "enter" - and APP corrects your whole pano perspectively.
