Nathan,
Are you sure you don't have any issues with parallax? Are you using a panoramic head to rotate your camera? Are you using the correct lens data in Hugin?

Clearly I need the 16mm.
Thanks for the first hand experience, that's exactly what I was looking for!

Do any of you full frame Canon or Nikon(preferably Nikon) shooters have comparison shots of a shaved 10.5mm Nikkor and a 16mm Nikkor?
I'm debating which one to get at the moment, but haven't seen any direct comparisons of the same scene.
Anyone either own, or have access to both?
Edited title for clarity.

It sounds like you're looking to do something similar to how Field of View (fieldofview.com/flickrtools/) works with flickr(using images tagged as equirectangular).
It looks like it's possible to license their engine, but this may not be what you desire.

I think I recall Nick or Bill saying that their system is not marketed as a template stitching mount. That's not to say you couldn't do it(I'm not familiar with the newer RD rotators and their consistency), but that may be why you're having difficulty using templates.

How much overlap are you using?
I'm with Doug, the file size should be much larger than 5MB

Doug,
That's exactly what I was looking for. I'm currently using Hugin, but plan on moving to PTgui and pano2vr eventually.
Thanks the quick responses all!

Hey all, anyone have some pointers on making a tripod cap? Should I just drop an image in at -90 pitch and tweak until it covers the nadir?
Are there any tutorials or techniques I should know about?

Piotr Maciak said: There is a trick I use. I always make two versions of my panoramas. The first one is for a web use and I convert it to sRGB. Color do not match but I hope that they will in future versions of panorama viewers. The second one is for displaying locally on my monitor. In this case I convert it to the profile of my monitor. Colors are displayed exactly as in color managed applications. Be aware that in this case you will have color shifts on any other monitor.
It's my understanding applications will run at the default system color profile, unless the program has provisions to display it's output in some other way(no matter what OS or program is in use).
Please correct me if I'm wrong, but displays are calibrated so that they are as close to accurate color depiction as possible. This way you're not correcting color inaccuracies of the display and video output, rather than possible inaccuracies in the photograph.
The catch is that while you may be seeing the correct image, it's almost a certainty that the majority of your viewers will not be viewing your work on a calibrated display.

I've used the app... I wasn't really impressed. When I used it, it wouldn't let you take multiple pictures, then line them up afterward. It was almost impossible to prevent para.

Scattering your own control points for the nadir, that's something I hadn't thought of.
What a good idea(assuming you pick them up afterward). I may grab some strike indicators out of my fishing vest for just that purpose.
