Can anyone using this lens on a FF camera please share what the correct Ptgui settings are? When I select fullframe lens, 1x crop factor and try to enter 8mm, it automatically changes to 12.74. HFov is 180' What am I doing wrong?
Thanks Gus

Thanks Heinz, Worked a treat: tinyurl.com/6rlm9zj
It appears that the size (viewable size) of the pano is not much smaller than using an 8mm lens. I'm keeping my eye out for a used D700 on eBay, and then get rid of my D7000. See, I sometimes simply cannot be bothered with all the hassle involved in creating a 360x180. Using one FF image: 1) No tripod 2) No parallax 3) No ghosts 4) No stitching Simply edit the image, apply PTgui template, then drag into Pano2Vr droplet.
Lets face it, how many scenes are REALLY worthy of panning all the way around and up and down?
There are exceptions off course, like this one! www.willpearson.co.uk/virtual-tour/shard-360-dusk/

Thank you. Should I choose to replace my lens, which lens would be best suited for this application? Since the idea is to utilise as much of the single image as possible, I imagine it will have to be a lens that provides the best quality all the way to the edge, and falls within the sensor footprint. Samyang 8mm? Canon 8mm?

Sorry, I wasnt 100% clear. I understand the process of creating the partial pano, I just wanted to see what the outcome of a partial pano using ONE image using a FF camera and shaved 10.5mm lens would be. (I don't have a FF camera) If someone can be so kind as to provide me with a landscape image, original size, taken with a FF camera and shaved 10.5mm lens, I'll create the pano myself.
Thanks in advance! Gus

Does anyone know if a partial pano using one FE image(like these say : www.lookaround.nl/images/net/PTM_PLYM_MONDAY/imag...
have been done with a 10.5mm, shaved lens (landscape) on a FF body that I can view? I'm keen to see how much info compared to a 8mm is lost using a 10.5mm.
I'm a fan of these "one image" partial panos, and considering upgrading from my D7000 to a D700, but already own a 10.5mm FE.
Thanks Gus

I contacted the photographer, and this was his response: ">> Hi Gus, >> >> thanks for your interest in my work. Actually I've shot Avala TV >> Tower form tower crane basket, form sides, handheld (without tripod).. >> the sports hall is shot same way. As there's no object really close >> by, parallax error is not big even if you shoot from sides of the >> basket (not form nodal point), so you can successfully stitch it... it >> does require some PS work. Just make sure to get a lot of photos and >> to get "complicated" or iportant objects in one frame. It's similar as >> "tower panorama" approach. On Avala TV tower I've also removed crane >> in PS. I found that approach much better on construction sites than RC >> helicopter, as security is huge issue there (well, I'm sure you know >> that . >> >> Best, >> Nino"
I tried my best to find remnants of sloppy photoshopping to see where the crane must have been - no luck.

Try: Filter> Other> Offset and enter the number of pixels to shift pano by. I sometimes use this to move a window which may require editing away freom the seam. Gus
