Hey irieman,
This is very exciting the possibility of running enfuse on a Mac. Wondering how you did it? I tried following your directions (above) Can you tell me how you point the blender to enfuse with XBlend? The only version of enfuse that I can find is enfuse.exe. Do I need to find a Unix version of Enfuse? Please help??? THANK YOU!

Hey all you fantastic Pano-agraphers! Does anyone have away to contact Matthew Rogers beyond the numbers and emails that are on the 360-precision site? I ordered a 360-absolute from them two weeks ago for a big Photo Expedition I'm going on Dec 26th 2007. and I got this weird email saying that it was scheduled to ship FedEX but when I called FedEx directly they said tat 360 precision never scheduled a pickup time. now it's several days later and I'm getting the feeling that everyone there at the company has already gone on Christmas break. I'm desperate at this point and very frustrated as I confirmed with Mat directly that if I did indeed place the big order $1263.00 US that it would get here before the Holidays. Lots of love and appreciation for anyone that can provide me with another way to get in touch with him. They're not responding to any of my emails anymore. ~Gavin

Even on manual exposure I don't always get the results I'm looking for. If you're dealing with Clouds then it can be tough. If it's a blue sky I usually make a gradient to match (color picker the sky that's there, each end) the transition of light blue (in the distance) to deep blue near the Top (in the foreground) and then go in and do a replace. If you're careful it can be a more accurate representation of what the orginal Experience when you were taking the shots.

Man do I hear you!

I have also been going down this same road trying everything I could my hands on for Mac OS X. I have been using PhotoStich for any of my Canon lenses above 20mm. That is as low as PhotoStich will go. My Canon Digital Rebel, shoots at 18mm so that's really 18 x 1.6 = 28.8 - not that wide.

So I went and Got a Sigma 14mm WideEye Lens for my Canon, which is really a 22.4, when converted for my Digital sensor (better). Also it's a fixed lens so I noticed less distortion .

I discovered that PhotoStich wouldn't let me accurately compensate for this Lens configuration. It still thought it was a Canon Lens or something and locked me out and wouldn't let me put in any new numbers. So I ran it it Auto anyway and made a test panorama.

With the recomendation of Other Users on this website I purchased PhotoVista. The User Interface really sucks next to PhotoStitch (which is so easy to understand). After a frustrating learning curve with PhotoVista I was able to input my Sigma Lens configuration and create a nearly Perfect Stitch. Compared to my PhotoStitch it was WAY better.

So now I use my Photovista for my sigma lenses.
I would recommend using both for different situations.

I also tried a demo of "Stich" which is a high end program but I was never able to really figure it out for doing Planar, flat panoramas. I have a feeling that it is really made for integrating Panoramas into 3-D world for Maya and CGI. It says it does flat panorama but I think it's a lofty claim that isn't 100% true.

Everyone's telling me to us PTMAC so I guess that will be the next thing I try.

Hope that helps,
Let me know if you discover anything better.

A Section for Fine Artists and Fine-Art Output?

It seems like there's a heavy focus on creating VR Panorama's on this website. Don't get me wrong I know there's a heavy need for them in Travel Websites, Interactive Tours, and Real Estate. But it also seems like the software reviews lean towards as well.

Maybe down the road there could be a section for fine-Art Photographers who are planning to output there work to print.
I know there are many of them. I have been downloading Demo versions of many of the programs and I am discovering that, while they got good reviews because they accomplish VR Panoramas fairly well in many occasions they seem to fall short in Planar Stiching and output.

Thanks You for your consideration,
~Gavin

In regards to Planar Projects I have gone through all of the Tutorial and stiched a 360 Panorama in "Sticher" and have not been impressed with the results for Planar Projection. It seems oriented more for VR output.

When I put in the accurate Focal Length numbers instead of adjusting for distortion it increases the size of the 3dimensional Sphere that the pictures reside in. Under Focal Lengh there's an option for Flat Stitch but that seems to turn off all of the distortion adjustments that I would turn to the program for in the first place.

Thank You though for taking the time to Respond

Hey everyone it's Dumbo here again,
Any suggestions on how to make a Planar Projection Panorama in "Sticher"?
The included Documention just breezes over quickly and doesn't got into depth about it. It just tells you to change your view and adjust the Planar Render, which sort of works. But I need more whys, so I can get those hows.

Does anyone know how to set the "Sticher" Properties correctly when using a Canon Digital Rebel? Or other digital cameras?
It asks for Focal Length (which is I understand) , but then it asks for degrees of Focal Length? And then it asks for distortion level? My lens Specifications does not contain a distortion level number?

David,
I have been trying out "Sticher" and and I have been a little confused/frustrated with the property settings/Camera dialogue box. The PDf's manuals are a little vague about what I should actually enter for focal Length and Distortion. I'm assuming it's my exact camera settings but it seems to come out (the image) a little funny. What did you do to get the settings correct? Was there a specific Manua/PDf for "Sticher" that was helpful.
Any suggestions? I'm Trying to construct a gigantic "Planar" Panorama Image for output to a BillBoard Size Photograph.

Also I noticed that although Sticher exports TIFF's it does not seem to import them.

I hope someone knows of a Stitching program that runs on a MAC OS X and can can handle Tiff's Image files and shots shot with 8mm &14mm Lenses?

Photostitch was almost there but it only handle images shot at 20mm or above.

Photovista was almost there but it doesn't support Tiff files.

HELP!!

David,
Yeah, I noticed that PhotoStitch only goes down to 20mm. That's a problem. I've ordered a Sigma 14mm WideEye Lens. . . So would you recommend Photovista for stitching shots taking with 14mm & 8mm Lenses? Or do use PTGUI for that?

I looked at the Photostich: Supported File Formats
GIF, JPEG, BMP, PICT, MOV
and I noticed that it doesn't support TIF's???

Thank Again,

I noticed that no one has reviewed the "PhotoStich" program which comes bundled with all new Canon Digital Cameras. Since it's the only stitching software I have used. I can't really compare it to any others - except the new PhotoShop CS integrated so called "stitching" - which seems to be a total joke, unless I'm using it wrong.

Does anyone own Canon PhotoStitch? And if so has anyone compared it to any other stitching programs.
Anything that one would recommend over Photostich?
For Mac OS X?

Thanks All

David,
Do you doing any stitching with your Sigma 8mm Circular fisheye Shots or do you use the single shot? Do you have any examples of shots you've taken with this lens?
