Hello,
Dermandar www.dermandar.com got a new design and lots of new features, most importantly is the ability to upload your panoramas from the website and not just the facebook app. (apps.facebook.com/dermandar/)!!
The new gallery interface with scrolling preview of the panorama, viewer embed code and more such as sharing and publishing on your wall if viewing from the facebook application... You can also view the panorama in a 3D viewer directly INSIDE the gallery!
Facebook app. gallery with simple viewer:
Facebook app. gallery with a panorama viewed in the 3D viewer:
Saving your panorama on you computer is now possible. Dermandar now allows you to save an equirectangular image of your panorama while creating it:
A geo-tagging feature that allows you to tag your panoramas using google maps, and also browse the map:
Last but not least, a revolutionary way to share your panoramas with your friends and family, publishing the viewer on your facebook wall, straight from the gallery! Just click on the "publish" button under any panorama you like:
This is what will be published on your wall, a simple auto scroll viewer and a mini gallery to browse:
Try it out, I'm pretty sure you'll be amazed by its speed!

Thanks a lot for your explanations, I've added them to the article. I've also labeled them as "advanced". I hope I understood the steps correctly.
I want to give you credit in the article for these tips but I don't how to link to you or write about you. I'd appreciate if you could tell me, either here or by email to webmaster (_at_) efkhoury (_dot_) com

you forgot the most important three things:
White balance, aperture and focus, everything has to be set to manual and must not be changed during taking the photos.
Nice you try to set up this thing.

Hi,
Thanks for your input, I will soon update my post! To be honest, I never paid attention to them while taking photos myself :-P but I surely will now!

Sorry for being late, I'm trying to show amateurs and casual people the basic things to pay attention to when taking photos for panoramas, my audience is not the pro users, instead I wanted their opinion on whether there's something I should include.

Hello,
I have recently written a tutorial for amateurs and beginners (like myself) to help them shoot their panoramas correctly. Since I'm a beginner too, I would like to know if there's a basic rule that I've missed or if I said something incorrect. Please note that I was not planning on covering everything, just the basic stuff to have a good (not perfect) panorama.
The link to the tutorial is www.efkhoury.com/content/taking-photos-panoramas-...
I appreciate your feedback and your rating
Best, efkhoury

Peter Stark said: I just tried it and it does work, ok with a few small visable errors, so maybe not for serious pano work just now, but for casual use, I think it is good.
Peter
I appreciate you trying our app. Those visual errors might be the compromise we had to make to speed up the process and make it work without any user intervention. A "fine tuning" option might be added later on, but for now, when uploading your panorama to our servers (only available in the Facebook application) you get the chance to mark the panorama as "bad", that way we can review it and tune our algorithm.

Terry Montague said: Adorable presentation . Keep us in the loop should you ever go a little more pro with your software. I think the facebook element is pure genius, I just feel like you are targeting an amateur market with your current marketing efforts. You will need it to handle more than a single row for many of us to jump on board but again I think you have something unique here and will be keeping up on your progress.
-Terry
Thank you very much for your encouraging words. We are targeting the amateur market to spread the word about panoramas, but we get so happy when a pro finds our application useful. I personally feel that gaining the trust of the pro users is very important! I invite you to try the Facebook app, the pro can have fun too

mediavets said: So for now it only handles a single row of images? Andrew
That is correct, for now.
The application is still in beta mode and we are open to users suggestions, feedback and ways to improve our service. The "magic" of our app is that it brings panorama creation and sharing to the masses and not just the professional users. We are starting a revolution in how people think of panoramas, we try to make panorama creation as simple as possible and accessible to everybody with a camera and internet connection. We believe that once panorama creation is open to the masses, the market, art and use of panoramas will change.
Of course, we will never forget the professional users. As our application evolves, new tools and features such as multi-row panoramas, geo-tagging, hot-spots etc. will be developed.

Dear Mark,
I do not quiet understand what you mean by an example of the Facebook app, therefor I will provide you with some screen shots of the application in my Facebook profile:
This is where you create your panorama:
View your panorama gallery (you see a thumbnail of a pat of the panorama):
Here are the latest public panoramas created by our application users:
Over here I browse the latest panoramas created by my friends:
Here are some links to view some sample panoramas with our online viewer: www.dermandar.com/view.php?pano=170c127b17853c1bb...
www.dermandar.com/view.php?pano=c29c6bef1c45348ea...
The purpose of the Facebook app is to promote the sharing of your panoramas with your friends. On our website www.dermandar.com you can test the application by creating panoramas (www.dermandar.com/create.php) but to upload them you must use the Facebook app (apps.facebook.com/dermandar/), so they can be linked to your account. Everything is absolutely FREE, you can freely try our application and remove it whenever you want.
We have no support now for the 360x180 panoramas but we are planning to include importers/exporters in our future releases. Right now the app is geared towards simplicity and ease of use, where any user can take multiple photos using his digital cam or even cell phone and create his panorama using our application, then share it or post it on his Facebook wall.
I recommend you watching the how-to video located on the home page of our site (www.dermandar.com).
You can also download some of our sample pictures found here (and at the bottom of our home page): www.dermandar.com/samples/sample1.zip www.dermandar.com/samples/sample2.zip www.dermandar.com/samples/sample3.zip and use the creator tool www.dermandar.com/create.php to quickly test it (no signing up/subscription required).
