Incredible UAVs flying around Palmela

Three Palmela 2011 star speakers, Ignacio Ferrando Margelí, Ryan Whitehead and Nick Ivanov are bringing in their UAVs for special demonstrations to conference attendees. These RC helicopters will be flying around Palmela for special demos on how to capture 360º Photography and 360º Video from up in the air, but with your feet, well on the ground.

As you can guess by reading the names on this speakers list, all our goals for this conference regarding topics to cover and quality of the speakers where more than achieved, in fact, our goals where all surpassed by a great margin. These speakers are fantastically talented members of the panoramic community that kindly decided to share some of that talent with Palmela 2011 attendees. The IVRPA sincerely thanks them for this opportunity.

This summer Palmela, Portugal, will be the world capital of panoramic photography.

It is going to be amazing!

Nicole Tung and Jason Barr – VR Photography in crime scenes
Thomas K. Sharpless – Beyond the Lens – Panini, the software view camera

In addition to the 12 speakers listed above, we have another 12 approved speakers to be announced in the coming days, we are currently preparing the announcement pages. This makes a total of 24 approved speakers so far, which is what I call a fantastic group of generous persons with an invaluable wealth of panoramic information to share at Palmela 2011 – The Conference, making attending this conference, a must!

It might be possible to accommodate one more speaker in the schedule, hence, we are issuing a last call for speakers. If you are planning to attend Palmela 2011 – The Conference and want to address the community with a talk at the Cine-Teatro São João in Palmela, this is your last chance to get a speaker slot. Contact us with a talk proposal and you might be featured in the conference program too.

Here is a Palmela 2011 update wrapping up the current situation on March 1, 2011.

Conference Attendees: www.palmela2011.com/tutorials-and-conference-regi...

As of today, March 1, we have over 60 attendees registered for the conference or tutorials + conference programs, this is the highest number of registrations in the first month of any previous IVRPA conference.
Hopefully we should be able to start publish the attendee list on the Palmela 2011 website in the coming days.
If you want to register for the conference, now it’s a good time, check the ticket prices and register here www.palmela2011.com/tutorials-and-conference-regi....

Conference Speakers: www.palmela2011.com/info/conference/speakers

We have some great speakers lined up already, Ignacio Ferrando Margelí, Joergen Geerds, Nicole Tung and Jason Barr, Thomas K. Sharpless, but we ain’t stopping here, more speakers will be announced during next month as we aim to cover all hot topics in the panoramic world.
If you are attending Palmela 2011 and want to give a talk here, contact us, we still have some 30min and 20min speaker slots available.

Conference Sponsors: www.palmela2011.com/info/sponsors

We recently opened sponsor registrations and already Nodal Ninja, Tourwrist, Kolor and Garden Gnome showed their love for this conference by signing in as Palmela 2011 Sponsors, Vendors or Partners.
Check the terms and sign in by registering your company to become a sponsor.

Conference Accommodation: www.palmela2011.com/featured/palmela-village-golf...

The first hotel, Palmela Castle Pousada was sold out on Feb. 14. The second Hotel, the S. Filipe Fortress Pousada in nearby Setúbal, sold out yesterday, Feb. 28.
Given the high demand we are experiencing for this conference, we went to great lengths to find a third hotel to accommodate everyone that wants to attend Palmela 2011 – The Conference from June 1 to 5, 2011.
The new hotel is the Palmela Village Golf Resort and although not up there in the Castle, it’s located only 10 minutes away from the village on a recently built golf resort.
We hope this new option with up to 100 rooms available will settle everyone’s need for a room to attend Palmela 2011.

Palmela 2011 Exhibitions:

Several teams are working on many different exhibitions and we expect to start announce the exhibitions in detail next week.
We have planned the following Palmela 2011 exhibitions to open to public on June 2 and 3, 2011:

Gigapixel Challenge.
Masters of Contemporary Panoramic Photography.
Panos for the People group exhibition (distributed across several places on Palmela Old Town).
My Planets (stereographic projection group exhibition).
Three individual exhibitions from renowned panoramic artists

For some of the exhibitions we will launch in the coming days a request for submissions from the panoramic community.
Everyone will have equal chance to participate, independently of being an IVRPA member or not.
Exhibitions will open on the first week of June, remain on display during the summer and close on August 31.

Hello,

Here is a short Palmela 2011 update.

Palmela 2011 Registrations opened a couple weeks ago and yesterday we run out of rooms in the Palmela Castle Pousada!

The IVRPA worked with the Pousadas de Portugal hotel chain to extended the Palmela 2011 deal (same prices, same conditions) to the nearby Pousada de Setúbal (in exclusivity) and today we started booking rooms for Palmela 2011 attendees there. Fear not, since bookings are coming in quite fast, we are working with other units in the Palmela area to provide another hotel option at same rates and conditions in case we run out of rooms in the São Filipe Fortress Pousada.

Meanwhile, we have several volunteer teams working on the exhibitions program, sponsors, attendees and speakers program.

The first Palmela 2011 speaker was just announced: Ignacio Ferrando Margelí.

Ignacio will give a talk about how to capture the impossible panorama and will also bring in his Microcopter for a live demo flying over Palmela old town.

This summer Palmela, Portugal, will become the world capital of panoramic photography. It is going to be amazing!

Hope to see may of you here in Palmela, next June.
My best regards
Os melhores cumprimentos

The Tucson 2010 Panoramic Photography Exhibition image submission period is over.

We would like to send a big thank you to each and everyone of you who submitted images for this event.
It turns out that we received more images than we can display, the response has been fantastic and we hope to be able to put up a great show.

In the next couple of days we will be selecting and organizing the material we have.
We will contact the photographers directly in case we need something specific from each participant.

See you in Tucson from April 14-18

(We will make available VR images from the exhibition for those not able to attend the conference)

Hi all,

Tomorrow is the image submission deadline for the Tucson 2010 Panoramic Photography Exhibition.

To accommodate for different timezones around the world all submissions received until 2pm UTC next Monday will be considered.
After that we will begin sorting and organizing the exhibition and the deadline can't be extended beyond that point in time.

Some photographers asked if they could submit digital files instead of prints and the answer is YES, we made arrangements to print those files and ship them to Tucson in time for the exhibition.

If you didn't submit you image, you still have time to participate in this event, just go ahead and fill in the official image submission form and upload your image using the Tucson 2010 Drop Box.

On behalf of the IAPP and the IVRPA, organizers of The Tucson 2010 Panoramic Photography Conference, we are pleased to announce the opening of submissions to the Panoramic Exhibition to be held on the Hilton Tucson East Hotel from April 14 to 18.

The Tucson 2010 Panoramic Photography Exhibition will showcase the current state of the art in panoramic photography.
This is not a photo contest, our aim is not to choose the best photo or attribute prizes, but rather a juried exhibition with the goal of assembling an exhibition to display a comprehensive collection of the different types of panoramic imagery currently being produced.

The rules for participating are simple:

* All submissions should be made trough the Tucson 2010 website using this form: tucson2010.com/panoramic-exhibition-form/
* We will only accept images captured from January 1, 2009 until March 28, 2010.
* The image needs to be exceptionally interesting artistically or technically.
* The maximum dimension of the prints we will accept is 110cm or 43 inches.
* The original photographs will have to be delivered in the Hilton Tucson East Hotel no later than April 12, 2010.
* All prints not picked up after the exhibit will become the property of Tucson2010 and retained for future exhibitions.

Please submit images following the above guidelines. Exceptions will have to be discussed with us, please e-mail any questions to exhibition@tucson2010.com.

Submissions will be accepted until March 28, 2010, but due to the short notice, we encourage everyone to submit their images as soon as possible as we need to plan the exhibition well ahead of our departure to Tucson.

Please note that, if you are attending the conference and want to bring your panoramic photograph to display, you are still required to fill the form to get approval to bring the images.
This is not a bring your photo and hang it on the exhibit panels. Even conference attendees that want to showcase their images will need to use the form.

We will do our best to build up a great exhibition and for that we look forward to your image submissions.
