Angle up or angle down?

Hey John,
If you go for better nadir results I would go for a 5-6 degr downtilt and maybe 6 around.
The quality of the lower cube is much better and the tripod-hole is easier to clone (because the lower cube is much sharper)
1 or 2 topshots @ 60degr+ would cover the zenith.
(and you don't have to drill the Agnos, I guess)
And Yes!, it's much more work than just 4 around smile)
But hey, you wanted Quality......

RRS Stuff is very well made stuff.
(and yes, expensive, at least shipped to the Netherlands)
I have a L bracket for my G9 and that fits extremely well.

The NN5 is steady enough btw, but you have a RRS-head now.
Nice piece of equipment !

For the value at the underrail (left/right) you have to find out yourself.
John has a fine tutorial about that.
For the upperrail the values at the NN site can help, they should be the same I guess.
Topshot not 90 degr up isn't a problem, just take more at max tilt.

Customer service from RRS is good btw !!
Had some mail conversation about prices and taxes and got replies quit fast.
(It's not 110% NN/Bill level of course, but hey, NN/Bill is very lonely at the top)
Have Fun !

Nikos,
try this:
tinyurl.com/6y3zca
it's a ptgui .pts file for your project.
It is bad shot with too many movements and auto cp's are not possible.
The .pts is a good start to finetune it the way you want it.

I agree with John,
the left/right "NP" is not correct,
Left is John's, the other is my nadir (in PTGui)
tinyurl.com/6yby96
A little left/right error is not such a problem with just 4 around.
Adding a topshot is allways the PITA.
I had this with a 360P and PTMac with enblend all the time.
Have Fun.

vignetting isn't a problem.
It can be fixed in AdobeCameraRaw and/or in PTGui Pro.

Safari 3.1.1 perfect
Firefox 2.0.0.14 loading a bit strange but all works.

iMac 24" OSX 10.4.11
1920x1200 pix.
The only thing is I have to click away the loadingscreen.

MacBook OSX 10.5.2 the same.

Nice panos Jan,
No problems on my browser (safari)
The resolution is a bit low for my 24" screen but I like the presentation much like the mini views in the lower left corner.
Good work !

Rob, as John asked, what kind of 10mm you use ?
The curved horizontal lines in the QT are very strange.
Matter of software?

NN3 or NN5 depends on your targets and hardware.

Sorry Pete,
estimated 80.000 right now.
I am no such footbal fan but 60-80.000 people in orange must give a strange view smile

"snow" tires on a Ferrari"
Haha !

@tallmanirl
What is your target ?
Print, large files or what ?
Hardware is just a part and a Canon 1 series is not just fun (had 2)
(Heavy, expensive, dust, sensorbanding, etc,)
Let us know the target.
Have fun !

Connect your camera to a computer and do a test to find the best focus.
Wide open at all focus points and after that at f5,6-8
Mine is at 1m and a little +

Sorry, but stop the nonsense about 4x5" film detail/resolution.
I had a Sinar P2 and a F with all the lenses.
I had a Sinar Handy (+47/65/90mm) and a Cambo Wide(+47/65/90mm)
When I see my old stuff and compare them with the newer digital technology, my eyes get wett.
So period !

Fergal wants a good solution for 180 degr. views.

Even a 375euro Canon G9 will do the trick.
at www.tawbaware.com/maxlyons/ you can see wonderful examples.
Max inspired me to make these,
tinyurl.com/3fowux
Use the arrows at the bottom, there are 6 !

01) 18498x3997 pix - 211,5Mb
02) 19360x3904 pix - 216,2Mb
03) 14130x3651 pix - 147,6Mb
04) 5807x3382 pix - 56,2Mb
05) 15764x2898 pix - 130,7Mb
06) 11825x3829 pix - 129,5Mb
All G9 stuff !

With a 5D and a cheap but very good 1.8/50mk2 on a NN3 results are much more stunning !
and no way film can do that.

It all depends on what you want..

OT again..
Hey Dorin, the 29th is not sure, first let's see saturday.....

For panoramic photographers, Basel, 21 june should be a great place to be.
About 60.000 Dutch people dressed in orange, a challenge.
Have Fun !
