Just thought I'd share. Mark Banas, a fellow panographer, has been kind enough to organize this event. Also thanks to his employer, Autodesk, for allowing the use of their facilities.
Rosauro
Here's Mark's invite...
Hello,
I am hosting an informal "Panoheads" meeting in Toronto in a few weeks. ("Panoheads" in this context are people whose minds think panoramically, not just the device we put on our tripods!) All are welcome to attend, and the more friends with cameras you can bring, the bigger an event it will be!
There is no firm agenda for the day, but my employer has graciously let me use our state-of-the-art meeting center in downtown Toronto for the day (the 21st is a Saturday, BTW). So that comes with room for up to 150 in comfy chairs, a multi-projector "powerwall," free beverages, and a convenient location. I will also have our SpheronHDR scanning panoramic camera set up for the curious, and I might even talk about HDR if there is enough interest. Otherwise we are free to talk about whatever we'd like, get to know each other, show off our gear, and get outside and shoot some panos! (And if it goes late enough, head out for food and drink in the city...)
A happy coincidence is that June 21st falls firmly within the dates for the World Wide Panorama's second event for 2008: geoimages.berkeley.edu/worldwidepanorama/wwp/prac...
We can hopefully "elevate" things to get everyone involved in this as well!
Now the details:
2008 Panoheads Meet, Toronto. Saturday, June 21st, 2008 1 PM - ?
Autodesk Canada offices 210 King St. East Toronto, ON, M5A1J7 maps.google.com/maps?f=q&hl=en&geocode=&q=210+King+St.+East, +Toronto, +ON&sll=37.0625,-95.677068&sspn=107.626984,106.523438&ie=UTF8&t=h&z=17&i wloc=addr
RSVP and add to the ideas for the meeting or the WWP shoot via the Panoheads Yahoo Group < tech.groups.yahoo.com/group/Panoheads/ > or RSVP to directly to me. (markbanas@gmail.com)
Hope to see you there!
-Mark

Back in December/06 and in September/07 you asked a similar question in which John H. gave you a link of a "how to". www.panoguide.com/forums/qna/3739/
The same technique can be applied for your 303/D200/10.5 combination and any other combination.
You should take the time to learn how to find the entrance pupil for any lens that you want to use. This is all part of the fun.
Here's another technique called the Grid by Alain Hamblenne. rosaurophotography.com/html/technical7.html
Good luck

Matt Rogers said: As for the QuickPan Pro you have to realise that the horizontal detent is limit to a maximum of 18 stops which means you can't use the 24-70L above 50mm.
Matt
Actually 20 stops @ 18° which will allow you to use 50mm with the 5D.
Kaidan currently supply 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 12, 14, 18 and 20 stops which supply increments at every: 120º, 90º, 72º, 60º, 45º, 30º, 25.7º, 20º and 18º.

Using an absolute path is fine if you're online.
What happens if you're viewing your site locally from an offline computer? Try it...

Hey Gus
Price has dropped considerably for the D200 which makes it a great deal. I still use it for panos. I love the EV stops.
If you do get the D200 also get the remote.
Over here the D300 is just another CAD $500 more. Maybe wait a bit. Price will eventually drop.

Alternatively you can shoot the nadir like this... Your choice...

Use a pole standing on an angle with the camera pointing directly downwards towards the ground.
Make a camera mount that swivels letting gravity level the camera pointing it directly downwards.
Use a remote shutter release.
Use a rectilinear lens.
To make this more technical, if you want, you could even add a video downlink so you could see what the camera is seeing.
Be mindful of the source of light and shadows caused by the pole.

Forgot to mention...
Remember your AUW will now change. What are you flying? Blade size? Just remember you should be able to safely auto if you needed to. Be safe.

Matt Rogers said: That's a great guide but the funny thing is you can clearly see misaligned sections in the images with green arrows. Particularly in the vertical image samples.
Gee Matt, funny how the image still stitched well.
You've been on the negative lately against people just trying to help. You ok?

I would recommend trying out some ground panos first and learn the basics of panos before setting your AP rig for panos.
You'll then figure out what you need to do to set up your heli and mount.
6 shots around has been the norm for ground panos. It's a bit different with an RC heli. You cannot just rotate the mount exactly 60° and shoot. There are variable factors that will affect the shots such as wind. You'll need to shoot in continuous mode. You mentioned rotating your mount slower. It's actually the opposite.
You mentioned the top of the heli will be in the shot. No it doesn't have to be. This all boils down to on your set up. You'll need to angle your camera down about 15°. This way you'll cover the nadir.
With software, personally, I'd use PTGUI.
As for camera and lens, I'd use a fisheye. Use any camera body.
Which HC are you using? 3A? 3D? Rigid? Profi?
For aerial panos you do not need a video downlink. For framed shots then use one.
HDR? For a still shot it's possible on a zero wind day and with a position hold system such as a Carvec or Profi. For HDR panos? Forget it.
