I had quite a few problems with this one, that really shows my lack of skills I guess, but in saying that, I am quite pleased with the result so far, though I do know that there are errors in the movie file, though quite how to fix some of them escapes me for the moment.
I had originally intended to try an HDR to try and bring out the stained glass windows a little, but I was less than pleased with the results I was getting. So, I ended up doing a copy and paste job to try and bring out some detail to the windows. (I am not sure about how successful that was).
Anyway, we have a blue cast over some bits of the image, a couple of stitching errors and ok,,,my nadir bit could be better. Also have some lens flare that needs looking at (not sure about best way to go about that yet).
Constituent images were taken with a Canon 400D with standard 18-55mm kit lens. Stitched with PTGui, retouch with PaintShop Pro (use what I am used to) with final QT output with Pano2VR (just recently got that).
Errrmm suggestions would be appreciated

oops! I got a 404, page not found, error message from the link. But, if memory serves, there were some posts about the rover images and the 1 megapixel images a while back? I cant remember the details, but would be worth a look I think.
Too tired tonight to search out anything but my bed I have been out pano-ing today (if pano-ing isn't a word, it should be)
Would like to read that article though!

Hi Robert, I am not sure about Dreamweaver v6, but I have v7 and that inserts the doc type automatically when creating a new page, I think v8 should do the same. For finding errors, you could use the dreamweaver site report function, or just use the W3C checker: validator.w3.org/
Just one thing to note and I am not sure if this will apply to you, but is a screwup I made a while back. I had a page of a google map api thing, I was sorting errors all over the place and the map page seemed to be riddled with errors. After sorting them all,, I remembered that I was making the html compliant to html standard 4.01, but the page was supposed to be "xhtml 1.0" standard. I had fixed several errors that werent there Something to do with the way java script sections are parsed between different standards. It worked anyway, but just gave me more work when it wasnt needed.
I would insert the doc type to a page, then check it, from memory most I saw on your site were just missing alt tags.
Ped
P.S. There are a couple of Firefox extensions that I find useful. Web Developer & Total Validator, the first gives an instant visual green tick when viewing a valid page, the second gives quick access to a full report.

I cannot comment on the pano stuff (would need to do mine better first) Though I would agree that the web site could do with some work. Whether or not you want an image, or images, on it is up to you as it is your site and it looks as you want it to be. (good or bad design is very subjective). I found the page to be a bit too wide too, though I think there are some basic problems that may be better to iron out first.
First problem is the lack of a Doc Type, inserting the correct Doc Type will help with validating your markup and will make things easier later on. Also I noticed that you have attached a style sheet, but have also used inline styles that contradict the attached style. That will just give you more work and will no doubt fail pages. I would suggest that you remove the inline styles and concentrate on the main style sheet. It will save time when updating the site and would also meet compliance standards more readily.
Finally: Use the W3C validation service to check your markup: validator.w3.org/
Ped P.S. Incidentally Robert, your site lacks a Doc Type too and suffers from much the same markup errors.

I am no professional, so cant say anything about rates etc, But I was looking at your web site and I would suggest sorting the site out. It is very much error ridden, I doubt if it would be a good advert for your work.
Maybe grab a good template page and work from that, might give some polish to the pano stuff. (no offence intended here)

I would agree that it is cut and paste, looking closely at the window frame you can see marks where the brush tool has jumped. I also see the photographers reflection and a stitching error,,, all in all I like it very much and the errors only serve to show the guy is human. The errors can be encouraging for newbies like me. If I had produced anything close to that, I would be very pleased indeed.

Personally, I leave a blank template page in my local web folder, complete with header and footer sections, and just change the parts of the html for the new file, give the page a title, description and a file name, then upload. Done and dusted! takes all of 5mins.
You may like to check out the plugin detection scripts on the DevalVR site: www.devalvr.com/paginas/productos/qtvr.html I have found them invaluable and saves a lot of time.

Also, I have a question for Opera users, Why use Opera. If something works perfect on IE and Firefox and doesn't work in Opera then surely the fault lies with Opera. hehe, I would tend to agree and take the question another step further. If it complies with W3C standards then why bother further? The browsers fail when the site doesn't! that being said, the fact remains that browsers do not show web pages the same way: IE tends to show text larger etc,. Much the same as with plugins I suppose. Have to cater for the viewers browser, not the html author

Okay, It is certainly worth delving into this further There are some obvious plus points (though I doubt if I shall attempt anything close to the La Palma tour, that must have been a mammoth of tasks).
I will have a go with flash and get back next week with first attempts results. (bet it doesn't improve my photo taking or stitching any)
Thanks for the links guys!

Cheers for the link: the page isn't loading here, so will go back to it later.
Editing post:
Okay got it this time. I have seen that used on a site from here lately. To be honest, I have been quite unimpressed with Flash viewing, always seems to jerk when I am viewing. Anyway, does anyone have full screen examples of this flash panorama viewer in operation? I have Pano2QTVR with the flash part, but this might be worth trying out?

Ohhh, is that back again
I havent a clue what is causing it, I was getting that message on a few of my sites last week on all browser. It looks like a sever problem, but the server checks out fine. Very odd. It seems to be intermittent, I just viewed with Opera and Safari, is looking ok now.

If you do not have the flashpanorama viewer send me PV msg and I can send it to you.
I am a wee bit confused here (nothing new there) What is a Flash Panorama Viewer? Surely, if the swf file is present, the browser or detection script would read whether the flash plugin is present on the viewers system.

Hi,
I am a newbie to this stuff and I was wondering about this too when I was making my web site. As far as I could tell, the DevalVR viewer plays QuickTime movies. So two viewer options can be attached to one file. I didn't see much point in uploading different files for the same subject i.e. jpegs for java viewer or a swf for the flash viewer.
So, I used the method on the DevalVR web site: www.devalvr.com/paginas/productos/qtvr.html and just took out the parts of the coding that I didn't need from the viewer selection function. The result is one file available for a scene but two ways to view it, it also saves having two URL's for the same movie.
I have noticed some people use two differing URL's for DevalVR and QT viewing options, there may be a function that I have missed so far, but this was easiest for me.
