Thanks for providing the link.

It's nice to take time and look at that place without 'the throng' milling about....

Here's their FEEDBACK page:

myworld.ebay.ca/procamerarepair/

They don't seem to have sold any conversions yet / recently.

Here's where I found the Canon / Nikon conversions:
shop.ebay.ca/procamerarepair/m.html?_nkw=mirror&_....m270.l1313&_odkw=&_osacat=0

Like I said, I was searching for 'hot mirror (filter)' when I found them.

Report back if you find out anything else about these guys. It's odd how other companies who were doing the conversions at 'full price' have come and gone. Khromagery comes to mind.

I shared this startling developement (price break for conversion) because I thought people who like to 'do it different' might be interested in taking it one step further.

I've been shooting 70% of my panoramas in IR, with an experimental 'beater' camera I converted myself.

Do you discriminate / protest when people only like to shoot panoramas inside sewers, or at night, or from kites, or with a not-so-modern digital camera?

Are you afraid of the unseen light? Gimmie a break.

I found these guys on eBay.ca and they are CHEAP. I was searching 'Hot Mirror Filter" when they popped up in the 'STORES' results. Considering the IR filter is really only worth a few bucks, their service sounds a lot more reasonable than outfits like MaxMax or LifePixel.
I haven't looked any father into them, nor have I seen any 'testimonials'.

Here's a quote from their auction:

WHAT IS ON SALE HERE IS A SERVICE THROUGH WHICH WE CONVERT AND MODIFY YOUR CANON DIGITAL CAMERA TO INFRARED. This custom manufactured high quality glass infrared filter is a drop in replacement for the original hot mirror filter. The response characteristics are similar to the R72 and 89b filters but is specifically designed to be used internally. After the conversion you will not need any filters in front of the lens and the camera will be just as sensitive to infrared as it was to visible light. This means you can hand hold and compose as normal. All filters are inspected to be free from scratches and other defects If defective please contact us immediately for exchange. All repairs and modifications are done at the owner's risk. Pro Photo Repair 7910 Raytheon Rd., San Diego, CA 92111 Tel. (858) 277-3700 Fax. I just bought a converted Canon P&S (China) off eBay the other day. cool

The seat of the car was very soft and moving the car, closing the door, leaning against the car, resulted in the tripod to move a lot.

Putting jacks under the jack points of the vehicle will render it rock-solid, preventing some of these errors.

......Put a few small pieces of coloured tape on the ceiling to assist in control points. Can be cloned out easily in final equi image.

If the ceiling happens to be the 'felt / cloth' type, pick up some map pins from the stationery store. They're small and easy to work with.

So, you're thinking of panorama of just one shore, right?

It sounds like you're describing the way your Canon stitching software lets you stitch a flat document (like a timeline) by taking several images.

That's OK for a flat image (document) but if you want to do it from a fast-moving riverboat, it's a whole different ball game.

eek!

I think the camera AND the mirror are on the bottom. There's a tiny mirror in the top and the lens is quite small.

A link would be nice to follow up with.....
