My first few weeks doing Panos (problems)

When your problem was caused by parts with manufacturing errors, I think the replacement parts will not have the problem and you don't have to take your gear apart anymore.

When people value your work and are aware of the benefits that interactive panos have for the marketing or visualization of the places they want you to shoot, they will not drop off in one week.

Payment of 15+ pano's should easily cover the expenses on one of the by Smooth suggested rotators..

EcoTech, Wind Turbine Tour!

As John mentions above, I don't see the reason to merge same exposure images in this situation beside getting multiple turbine blades in the final image out of creativity.
Fusing multiple images (of same exposure) will reduce image noise, but was probably not your intention here (and doesn't work with HDR and tonemapping, only exposure fusion).

Beside that, I suppose a single raw image would contain enough dynamic range for the outside scene, no need to exposure bracket there.

The Red/Magenta (although to me an unfamiliar effect) is also strengthened by cranking up the saturation in post and you could remove/reduce it locally with a de-saturation layer with mask .

Nice work Marko especially the interface you made looks pretty original, did you make it just with Panotour or also did some hand coding!?

There are some problems in the photos of the outside view and it looks like the focus is different on the green opposite of the tower, did you have the camera on full manual? (speed, aperture and focus)

On my screen (not calibrated), the greens are a bit over-saturated.

Yep, always format the card in the camera after every transfer.

Also read to only transfer the images from card to computer and don't leave the card connected to computer or edit on the card to extend it's life.

The fact that you can see the small (embedded jpg) uncorrupted preview of the images (which is generated by the camera from the raw data) makes pretty sure that the problem got created during the storage process.

Whether the corruptions were caused by the camera or the card is difficult to determine but as stated by DemonDuck probably is caused by the card as these are subject to aging.

It seems there is a cloud formation in the most left image top and a sun in the second, looking like partial overwrite?

Using Panopreviewer in PS CS5 on OSX Snow Leopard (10.6.x) worked fine, but on my new Macbook Pro which came with OSX Lion (10.7.x) there are serious rendering issues, mostly at the nadir area.

Would be great if this valuable tool would get updated.

Not familiar with the Nik problem but could be possible, Photomatix 4.1.1 gives me a problem on the zenith when I tonemap a stitched panorama (also with the 360deg option selected).
To prevent problems, tonemap images before stitching or try it in PTgui.

HDR panorama outsource service!

Welcome to the forums and thanks for announcing your service John.
Although most regular posters here at Panoguide are very critical about image/pano quality, surely everybody wil try to help you with constructive criticism. Please state what equipment and software you are using for more specific technical advise.

Although the sample panos on your site are maybe to small in resolution which probably (hopefully) causes the artifacts in the sky there is CA around the windows (remove during raw file processing) and halos at the transition between building and sky (hdr tonemapping settings), people and the boat(s?) are ghosted because a (to) slow shutter speed was used.

As Terry stated, there are not many signs that shows hdr processing in the samples on your site, there are several clipped highlight and shadow areas.

When you like to see some benchmark hdr panos, review Terry's outstanding work at www.regal360.com/index.php/vt-projects.html

Please feel free to process and post another hdr sample panorama for more advice.

The Samyang 8mm will make you lose a significant amount of pixels on your full frame sensor www.360pano.de/en/samyang_5D_1D.html

As you have to move the tripod to make the nadir clear and take that shot separately, it will not save you a nadir shot.

New to 360 degree photography

As the Sigma 8mm is used by many people who participate on this forum (beside me), it is a popular option. Probably because this lens is the average between high res (multi row) and low res output.

Recent versions of PTgui don't have any problems (auto) stitching the images from the Sigma 8mm (4 or 6 around) when the tripod head is appropriately adjusted.

Shooting 5-7 degrees up with the Sigma 8mm covers the zenith and I never experienced problems with leveling the pano because of that. The remaining nadir hole is less then 10 centimeter in diameter.

Using a full circular fisheye on a crop sensor is wasting a lot of pixels and whenever you like to upgrade to a full frame camera in the future the lens will become virtually useless.

Keeping exposure (Shutter-speed, Aperture, Iso) for all the photos the same is very important!

As I shoot in raw, my white-balance is always on auto and will be adjusted (same for all images) during processing in ACR.
When you shoot in jpg it is advisable to also set the white-balance to manual though.

Did you have a look at the Pano2VR tutorials Lorne; gardengnomesoftware.com/tutorial.php
Not sure if your issue is covered in there, but there are a few topics regarding hotspots and images. Don't use Pano2VR myself, so can't share my experience on that.

Regarding your blurry/ghosted people, you have a very difficult scene there, low light with moving subjects. To get a good exposure, you'll have to crank up the ISO to get a fast enough shutter speed to "freeze" the moving people, around 1/60 for not moving/standing people, but 1/125 (and probably faster) when they walking around.

All looks very unprofessional and a search on Google gives no results on "GM Photoes" very surprised, not even your "own" website turns up eek! ..
Also search on Professional photographer Davide Spada gives no results or example images..

Only 8 likes on Facebook.. cry

Spending 60.000 on prices and unable to pay a webmaster a fee to create a good looking site.. confused

No image available yet of the "little and funny plush" which every contender is going to get according Nov 13-14 announcement.. sad

The application form can be found on "www.cameraobscura.ro/ cool

From the contest rules page:
- "The participation of GM Photoes employees or members of the jury is not admitted." - Did you mean it is not allowed for them to enter the contest or it will not be admitted (ad·mit verb /ədˈmit/; Confess to be true or to be the case, typically with reluctance) when they win the main price? laugh
- "For the “main theme” there is a prize of € 6000 (five thousand)" blush
- "The contest allows only digital photos in RAW or TIFF format with the maximum size of 10 MB" smile

Running out of Emoticons and spend to much time on this ... devil

Beside the "standard" panorama gear, a camera which can also shoot video (1080i/1080p preferred) will do I think.
