Huble Homestead Historic Site Tour

Hi Judy,
Completely forgot, but with chatting with Thomas reminded me.
If you open the skin editor and select all the elements you can copy then paste into a text editor.

You can then use the features such as find and replace. Once finished you then just copy and paste back into the skin editor.

It is planned to be able to do things like this easier in the future so your comments have been noted.

I must admit I don't look here to often, mainly concentrating in the Pano2VR forum, but if you feel there is something that needs addressing please post and let us know. We do listen and try to add requests as soon as we can.

All the very best,

Hi Judy,
To do a rollover in Pano2vr you just need to have a text box with a mouse enter and leave actions to set text self.

With black text with red text on mouse over.
Enter the text in the text box with the colour black. "Rollover"
Mouse Enter => Set Text: <font color="#ff0000">Rollover</font> => Target: $self
Mouse Enter => Set Text: <font color="#000000">Rollover</font> => Target: $self

Just create one text box then copy and paste as many as you need, just make sure you change the ID.

Then add the action Mouse Click => Open Next Panorama. smile

Thumbnail Skin Pack
Re: Thumbnail Skin Pack

Hi
@ Ken
I use a standard very low resolution strip that gets packaged with the skin packs, so people get what they have seen on the website. Each skin pack has a fully functioning set of project files; low res strip panos and the skin, as well as user guide and any other files associated with the project. With Pano2VR, settings in the project files can affect how the end result will function, so anyone purchasing the pack will see all interaction.

However I do agree, perhaps a better looking panorama might help, but anyone looking at this I hope will be looking at the functionally of the skin and what it is doing, and is this something they want to learn about rather than looking at the panorama. smile

@ Bob
Valid point and if this was a true tour this would not happen, this is a demonstration of some of the things this skin can do. Personally I would not suggest in tour point hotspots and thumbnails, one or the other. However this is not up to me to dictate, you see what functionality the pack can provide and if you want that functionality or parts of it, then you purchase it. The flip side to this is that I would get asked if it could be used with hotspot proxy’s, or losing a sale because they did not see this function. sad

@ Jon
You seem to have missed the point; the packs are as I have always said are learning tools for the skin editor found in Pano2VR and Object2VR. I show you how to do something; it is then up to you apply the knowledge to your own skins using what ever features you liked. Be it marking the viewers location in a floor plan or map or showing which direction they are looking.

Everybody wants something different, but as soon as you please one person, another will criticise you for doing so.

As Smooth has pointed out, it’s all about how it works. Some people need to be pointed in the right direction, while others just want to get going as fast as they can, so I am here to help.

Thumbnail Skin Pack

Hi Robert

Yes this will work on V3 beat.

I built this using V2.3.4 as quite a few will only use final release software for client work.

I had tested with V3 and all is ok, in fact better as you can add rounded corners to rectangles etc.

I have tested this on my i-pod touch; the i-pod touch did not like alpha or element scaling so I took this out and just have the larger thumbnails show and hide.

This also works with the point hotspots and hotspot proxy’s. The screen is too small to use point hotspot effectively, but I left them in to show them working.
Of course it may be a different story on the i-pad.

When testing on my PC in Safari, I set it to mobile browser comparability test and the alpha and scaling did work. So it is quite possible that this will work on the i-phones. I am sure it will function as should on i-pads also.

All elements can be customised, so if you want the dots to change the thumb menus then you can, no problems.

This link www.hopkimedia.co.uk/GGS/ITSP will open the version that works on my i-pod touch with the dots as the buttons. As the dots are rectangles drawn in the skin editor I made them larger so you can use your finger.
Kind regards
Martin

Thumbnail Skin Pack
With quick and easy installation it also comes with a comprehensive 14 page PDF user guide explaining how it all works.

Using Pano2VR’s Transformations output it shows you how to remap the panorama to create the thumbnail images so requiring no other photo editing software.

The thumbnail menu system can be configured to be placed top, bottom or at either side of the window. All required pointer png files are included.

This Thumbnail Skin Pack is quick to install with good looking results. And as with all Hopki Media Skin Packs expanding your knowledge of Pano2VR’s user friendly, but powerful skin editor.

This skin as well as many others can be found in my websites Skin Factory.

Hi all

@ Peter, I should have said, I am showing my limitations in this one, I am still playing with settings etc to improve my output.

@ Juergen, I have seen a lot better than I can produce with the same setup, so I think there is more to learn for me yet.

@ Hans, it was me, must have had a brain fart, re-stitched it this morning and perfect, I am just not happy with the sharpness, I don’t get any consistency, one pano spot on and really sharp, then the next not so good. I find it relatively easy to do indoor photos, outside is a different ball game altogether, clouds moving, trees blowing in the wind etc, Oban was very windy on the day I took these and I found it a bit of a stitching challenge, but missing the odd control point on a boat mast did not help. Now I was happy with my Glencoe pano, but only one person commented on that panorama.

@ mediavets, thank you Andrew, now the software I can do.

Although I have been on the Garden Gnome forums for a couple of years now helping many with Pano and Object2VR, I actually have not had much experience with making panoramas.

This is something I recently decided to rectify, I joined this forum back in April but only just started posting.

Practice makes perfect, and the odd bit of help along the way.

But thank you all for your input, much appreciated. smile

Pano2VR Skin Pack SP1 is now ready

Skin Pack SP1 is now ready and can be found in the Pano2VR page of my websites The Skin Factory, here www.hopkimedia.co.uk/pano_skin_packs.html

The pack contains:
1 x SP1 User Guide
1 x SP1 ggsk file
3 x p2vr project files
3 x low resolution strip panoramas
1 x p2q_embed_object.js file
1 x index.html (full coverage, no close text at the bottom)
1 x Graphics Folder containing 91 png files

The pack covers:
Work Flow and Tips
Building the Loader
Using Dynamic Text
Setting the Compass
Twitter Share Button

The graphics folder contains more buttons than used in the project, however if there is one you don’t see I will happily make it. This is normally a free service for all my graphics and skin packs.

I will be releasing additional graphics packs which can be purchased separately with different colour buttons. If you require a specific colour then this can be arranged for a small donation.
Kind regards

Coming Soon
Skin Pack 1 (SP1) starting work on the user guide next week,

(Although this skin pack has a floor plan, view point radar beam and all the code that makes it work, the user guide will not cover its construction. Please see skin pack FRS)

All my skin packs are learning tools to speed up the learning curve for the Garden Gnome Skin Editor found in Pano2VR and Object2VR.

To give even more value, this pack also contains a full set of buttons including many more than what is used in this skin project. If the pack is missing a button you require, let me know and I will make it, and then add it to the pack. This is normally free of charge.

Subjects this pack will cover:

Planning a skin to minimise your work flow.
Using dynamic text so it can easily be changed as well as text formatting.
Looking at how the loader works.
Setting the Compass
Using data stored in the panoramas for compass correction
Twitter share button
As well many tips and tricks like scalable point hotspots.

What’s in the pack?
A full set of glass red buttons
Fully working project files
User Guide

I also am going to bring out graphics packs which will have all the images used for SP1, sold separately the graphics packs are for those with a good understanding of the skin editor and do not need the skin pack.

I am also planning on building a glass green set and a glass blue set which can be used to change the colour shame of SP1.

Normally for a small donation I will also provide the buttons in whatever colour you require, please supply hex colour code or a swatch sample.
As with SP1 the graphics packs contain three states, up, hover and click.

SP1 Preview: www.hopkimedia.co.uk/GGS/SP1

Please note that the panoramas used in this preview are the same low quality strip panoramas used in the skin packs.

Hi Aram
I have found the following:

I Pod Touch, I Phone 3G, 320px @ 75% image quality (although the I Phone can handle more)
I phone 4, 1024px @ 90% works.
I Pad, tested at 2000px @ 90% and worked ok as well.

Safari only has a limited amount of memory so when you start filling it up with image; other things like the GUI stop working, I found things like when opening the information window, I had to start to double tap to open when 320px @ 80%, change to 75% all started to work as expected, single tap.

What screen res are you using? Just reset my I pod touch, this happens if the tile sizes are to large.

Just finished stitching this pano when I was at Glencoe visitor centre in Scotland.
Taken with my trusty Canon 400d with a Sigma 8mm F3,5
Hope you like it, I have many more to stitch from my visits to Oban, will post as soon as I get time to do them.

I have had a little play with the new Pano2VR beta 3

www.hopkimedia.co.uk/GGS/IFRS

or www.hopkimedia.co.uk/GGS/ITM

The trick has been getting it all to fit and still be useable on a small screen as well as the larger I Pad and Safari.
