Looks like you got quite a bit of snow down in Surrey. I like both your panos but particularly like the one taken in the wood with all the snow covered trees.

I think this is my best pano so far, however, I'd appreciate feedback on improvements that could be made, both in processing and if I was to re-shoot the pano.
Is it too dark? Should I clone out the tripod leg holes in the mud? Any other suggestions?
www.360cities.net/image/sunset-puddle-at-farndon-...
To take the pano I used the tripod without extending the legs to get the camera low enough to capture the afterglow reflection in the puddle. I bracketed ±1EV. Stitched and exposure fused in PTGUI, then adjusted in PS CS5.
The ground is using the +1EV image, with a curve applied to brighten it slightly. The sky is using the exposure fused image with the -1EV image used to bring back some colour into the brightest part, which was blown out on the exposure fused image.
I did try applying a curve to brighten the whole image, but this lost the contrast between the bright afterglow and the rest of the sky.
Thanks for any suggestions
Dave

Mark Schuster said: Dave, We didn't have much snow here in Hertfordshire either, but what there was all fell on my car. Took a whole can of B&Q deicer, left over from last year, to dig it out. Mark
Hope you've got another can, looks like more icy weather on the way!

As UK members will know, many parts of the UK have seen quite a bit of snow lately.
We haven't had much snow where I live, but I took a few panos in some local fields: www.360vrs.com/
Critique welcome.

Thanks for the advice, I use the PTGUI converter, so I think I'll just leave it at the default of 70% unless I get banding in the sky.
Cheers

Hans,
What sort of level of JPEG compression for 2000px cube faces would you recommend?
Thanks

I processed a pano in PTGUI without the handheld nadir shot.
Then I added in the handheld nadir, added some control points to the handheld nadir, and ran the optimiser with only the handheld nadir image ticked to be optimised.
But now when I view the handheld nadir image in the preview window, it doesn't show anything: www.iliveinabin.com/Img/ptgui-image-blank.png
It doesn't output the handheld nadir image when processing the panorama either.
Any ideas?

Nice panos!
I think there is a stitching error on St Marys - look at the church sign and also the white boards on the church above it.

Great panos, I especially like the one in the mountains up above the clouds.

I was wondering about this too (shooting panos in busy places or where tripods are restricted) and was thinking about getting something like the Manfrotto 682B Self Standing Monopod (or maybe Manfrotto 679B monopod + 678 folding base which should be cheaper).
I think that setup should be quite good as you can potentially get the stability of a tripod, but only taking up the space of a monopod. Also I think you might be able to use it for pole panos. I don't know how steady it actually is though.

I signed up for their email after seeing this post when you originally posted it, and have just today received an email from them. It seems that it is only designed for compact cameras, probably not of interest to me at the moment.
