40-41 seconds, pretty much the same setup as guys above (Q6600 with 8GB). HDD performance doesn't do much as the file size is minimal. Without enblend I have the stitch in about 18 seconds.

Thanks for the replies.
I'd like to stick to FF and 6+1 has never been an issue for me (no moving subjects). I have had the Zenitar before but had bad luck with it which made me switch to Sigma at the time.
I just got a second hand copy of the Sigma FE for nikon mount and just took what I know already so I can shoot. I am still interested in hearing if anyone has comparissons with the Nikon versions though!

Hi,
I just switched from Canon to Nikon and am looking for a new FE lens to fit the D700. On the canon I have always used the Sigma 15mm and have been happy with it's results. As Nikon has made several 16mm fish-eyes, I would like to ask if anyone has experience with these and if they have any quality advantage over the Sigma. Manual focus is no problem as I always use the sigma as MF anyway.

The only way to know is to test them. You will find some are good, some are not.
It's good to know a little about photography before diving into these things, especially if you are going to spend a lot of money on lensen that you do not know anything about. Go to a store that has an assortment, take your camera with you and make some snapshots. Compare them and home and make a descision.
You also have to ask what you want to do with the particular lense. Make a panorama or make QTVR. If you want to make QTVRs it is best to get a fisheye (15mmFE on Fullframe or the 8-10mmFE for cropped).
I have a sigma 15mm FE specially for making QTVR on my 5D (fullframe) and I am very satisfied. For cylindrical panoramas (ussualy 120-180 degrees) I use a 35mm and 50mm prime lens with the camera in portrait mode. The 17-40 range of zoom lenses is also versatile for this application.

I see what you mean, the wood does not line up. Grrrr... didn't even notice that when making the qtvr. I will try your tip on the next occasion, sadly I am already home again
BTW: The fish doesn't smell at all. The heads are kept seperatly, these are the parts that smell apparantly.

Just got back from a trip to Norway. I made the QTVR below on the last day, the idea just came to me.

Hi,
I've been playing around with my 15mm Sigma for a while now trying to learn how to shoot QTVR's. Still some thing to learn, but I am more and more looking at my pictures and wanting more from the image quality. My Sigma is always a bit soft/not-sharp, even between f5.6-f11. As I have the same result in my Sigma 15-30, but not in my Canon 17-40, I was wondering if the same difference is seen in the Sigma vs Canon 15mm.
Does anyone have both lenses, or the same shot taken with these lenses to compare?
How does the Nikon 10mm fare versus these two, relativly ofcourse? My fish-eye is a dedicated lens for QTVR's, so this is the only field I am interested in.
BTW: I shoot with a full-frame DSLR.

Do the calculations for rectilinear lenses apply for fisheyes?

Does anyone have the hyperfocal distances for a 15mm fisheye, full stops will suffice.
Thanks.

Thanks, that did the trick I think (PTgui unlimited). Didn't see this version when I downloaded the original.

Hi,
I've been using PTGui on my PC for some time and have recently bought a mac-mini. On the PC version I have the pano12.dll that allows the use of fish-eye lenses on a FF camera. How does this work for the mac version? How can I get PTGui to accept fish-eye images?
Thanks!

Hi,
Here are my findings for lenses on a Canon 5D
15mm/f2.8 Sigma Fisheye..........79.5mm 17-40mm at 17mm....................105.0mm 50mm/f1.4 Canon......................55.5mm 35mmff2.0 Canon.......................57.0mm 24mm/f2.8 Canon......................66.5mm
I got them through a similar test like described above, by aligning a subject in the front with one in the rear. Hope this helps. If anyone has better values, let me know...

I also use Pano2QTVR, but haven't run into any problems. Maybe because I am just below the limit you mention. I also have CubicConverter, don't know if there is a limit on this one. Haven't found the need for a 24000pixel wide QTVR yet
