Smooth said: Given what you say and what you used, I'm still of the same opinion, in every position needed for shooting the panorama set of images the only time you would even with the sloppiest connection bring the electrical contacts apart would be placing the camera into the nadir position and even then gravity would play it's part.
That's incorrect actually, (btw, I used a Nikon camera not Canon) because fortunately, the shots I take (and the directions I choose to take them) are not based on "your opinion".
Smooth said: I personally don't think the ring grip was responsible for your problem. If it was, I say it was just plain bad luck because as far as I can see it would defy science. Regards, Smooth
Yes, having it have a detrimental effect on my camera and lens combo over a long period of use is indeed bad luck (among other things) and is the main reason why I got rid of it.
Though I did notice that the folks over at Nodal Ninja have actually addressed this with their own ring mount-
From their website:
"Mounted close to the camera to reduce stress on the lens due to gravity of camera body"
Note that the above only mentions "gravity". With the somewhat unusual Agnos setup above, one is also grabbing the camera and twisting the entire mechanism up or down with force that would vary depending on the tightness of the knob on the upper pivot. It is this additional motion which can put significantly more stress on the connection than mere gravity alone. To ignore this as a possible source of problems out of hand is somewhat short sighted.

That's ok, being that B&H is closed yet AGAIN until Saturday, they won't be able to help you right now either.

Doug Aurand said: Bradford I don't think you mentioned the manufacturer and model number.
If some one wants to check the price on Adorama or B&H Photo, I though that might help them find it
Don't you think so?
Nope, not particularly.
Within the context of the post, I "though" that "some one" would be able to find what they needed from the actual link I provided. Even you.

DennisS said: I think that some of the slop will come from the two aluminum surfaces scraping across each other with no lubrication between them. As the ridges in the surface get worn down, slop will work its way in. Even anodizing will wear away eventually.
Perhaps, but in my case I have only taken the lens off of my D300 two or three times in the three years I have had it (I only use that camera for VR work).

This part is weak:
"The uploaded shooting program is saved in adapter's memory , it can be only changed by uploading a new program. If your PC doesn’t have the RS232C serial port, you can use the USB-RS232C reduction."
I think that would be just about be every PC nowadays no? Which of course you will have to bring along if you want to change the shooting parameters.

Bradford Bohonus said: Using the 10.5mm with the Agnos head I had, you needed to rotate the camera for the additional up and down shots. With the Agonos Ring attached to their multi-row head you only had the camera itself to grab on to in order to rotate the whole thing up and down before tightening the bracket again. So my first thought was that repeated use in this manner over a period of about a year or so may have had an effect on the connection between the body and this particular lens.
Since Agnos is like Lenovo with their multitude of differently configured products, here is an image of the particular setup I was using-
There wasn't anything else like it at the time (a few years ago).

DennisS said: Although the ring clamp is a brilliant concept, if your equipment is not "tight", I can see how camera/lens movement would become an issue.
I stopped using an Agnos ring clamp setup for precisely this reason. The weight was enough that it eventually effected the data contacts between my 10mm lens and D300 (momentarily breaking communication between the lens and camera) giving me dark pictures once in a while if I wasn't paying attention. Don't know if it is just the lens I had or what, but I didn't have the problem before I was using the Agnos ring. It still (although very rarely) happens to me even now when using my "regular" head. Which can only lead me to believe that using the Agnos ring for that period of time somehow damaged or changed something regarding the stability of my lens connection to my camera body. Any thoughts on this?

By the way- lose this stuff:
"Elegant Creative Unique Classy Intelligent Clever Original Sharp Attractive Alluring Beautiful Striking Impressive Thought-provoking Vivid Dynamic Expressive Inspiring Mesmerizing Captivating Dramatic"
Its kinda tacky and reminiscent of the people going on and on about some trinket on the Home Shopping Channel.
Simplification is always a hallmark of great design, and you don't have to be a "designer" to try such a thing, here's a quick example of how selective removal can improve upon things-

AFTER:
I'm sure if you try you'll come up with something even better than this quickie.

At first glance (in my own opinion of course)-
- Remove the vertical pano floating on the left side
- Get rid of the keyword links at the bottom of the page (it looks spammy)
- Ditch the Google Ads. They make the site look cheap and your traffic will most likely not be enough to make them worthwhile. You are selling prints not ads yes?
- Pick a font (not Times Roman) and stick with it. Don't mix them.
- Don't use all caps for the Gallery image titles, don't use underlining for those particular links.
- Make all of the images on the Gallery page the same size and aspect ratio
- Get rid of all the borders around everything. You are selling matted prints. By putting borders around everything, you create a really disturbing nested matted frame of a matted frame of a matted frame look. Your prints should be the only thing that has that look. This will draw attention to them.
- Stop sticking "panoramic photograph" or the like in all your image titles. I think it is already clear that these are panoramas. The titles will look better when they are shorter, and stuffing for keywords will most likely not accomplish much.
- Clean up the look of the text on the pages that have it (Pricing, Shows & News, About etc). Getting rid of the all-caps, underlining, table borders, and Times Roman will go a long way with this. Use CSS to format it nicely.
Anyway- that should be a good start.

Wow, I had no idea Dairy Queen was also in the Phillipines? They closed most of them around Seattle. Not the best weather around here I suppose for that sort of thing.
