Learning curve mastery?

My personal two cents as well…

With the pace the world moves, failure to advance is the same as moving backward. I agree that mobile is the future. And I agree that panoramic images are capable of being one of the most beautiful forms of art. Giving a broader audience access to appreciate this form of art, regardless of what percentage is commercialized, will help the industry not only keep up, but to be embraced by a much, much larger audience — even if most folks are still just observers. As I see it, we have the opportunity to do for panos what iTunes did for the music industry.

For what it's worth, we've been quietly listening to the feedback, and have some improvements underway that are likely to make many of the users happy.

We'll always strive for that garage-talk feel, but if we can make it a three-car garage, hey, that's not so bad either. Thanks for the candid assessments. We'll continue working to grow from them.

TTurner,

I would have loved to, but it was impossible to leave a coherent thread intact.

Panoguide Members,

It's sad to see where this thread went. Although moderator and curator are not the same role, in this instance, we were left little choice…

Mark et. al,

Yes, technically, this is possible, as evidenced here: www.youtube.com/hondacivicUK. If you'd like to build your own, you may want to try contacting YouTube, here: www.youtube.com/t/advertising_brand_channels.

For the average YouTube user expecting an standard, readily–available tool though, the answer appears to be no.

It's not our place to interpret your intention here, so we'll allow you to determine the best answer given your own specific needs.

Best regards,
Charles (and the TourWrist team)

With the holidays upon us and 2012 around the corner, chances are you have plans to launch a new product or service or campaign. And more than likely, you'll be right in the throws of it all too soon. But heading in with a renewed sense of perspective will make the journey an adventure, rather than a grind. From the small part of your world that is this forum, "THANK YOU" for helping others learn your craft. We all have our differences, but collectively, you ARE the panoramic photography industry, and it's truly remarkable that so many of you have chosen to coexist together right here.

Here's to you, the companies, the forum, the friends, the industry and the new heights — that together — we'll help it reach next year!

Gentlemen,

We understand your positions. Let's move on. Doug, Denis is not attacking you. To the contrary, he's attempting to help you and the rest of the forum summarize your position so that we don't have to return to an endless loop.

Also noteworthy; Tactus 360 (Jon) has expressed his great frustration in a recent post which had to be removed because it was unnecessarily offensive. At the end of said post, Jon advised us that he is leaving the forum for good.

Regards to all,

Members of the forum,

Please remember that the very reason your advice is solicited is that you are professionals. Pros come in all varieties with some focusing on volume or value and others who pride themselves on producing the highest-quality panoramas. Please keep your advice professional and it will continue to hold value for others, regardless of your stance.

Thank you,

Yes, this is the price for custom app development — not for hosting, which as Trausti points out, is free. Given that the average app in the states costs $25,000 or more to develop, this is less than the going rate for a far more advanced product.

I've tried to make it clear to the community that this is an invitation to support whoever you'd like. The message was sincere, heartfelt and delivered carefully. One of my objectives in life is to do good, and this is a good thing to do. While there may be a few among us that will construe this campaign as support for war, I assure you that it is not. No–one, not even the soldiers that will be greeted by these kind sentiments, want war. But at the end of the day, you're always likely to upset someone when you do anything in a community of this size. In this case, I'm sticking to what I believe is right and leaving this campaign up. I've also removed an exchange that used to follow the original post above, because it strayed from the spirit of the cause.

A crowdsourced, 360-Degree Salute to Soldiers

Soldiers across the globe are invited to ‘teleport home’ for the holidays through an immersive, heartwarming virtual tour experience, today through January 1, 2012.

As a Panoguide member, I invite you and your friends to create a special holiday greeting for any soldiers that may be serving abroad. Collectively, your shared well–wishes will serve as a reminder to brave soldiers worldwide that they’re in our hearts. We’re calling this panoramic campaign “Gather ‘Round Your Troops for the Holidays.”

Imagine what it must be like to be stationed overseas – far from your family and friends during the holidays. Now imagine ‘teleporting home’ to immersive 360º holiday greetings from loved ones.

Virtual tours are an excellent medium for heartwarming holiday greetings. Here are two examples from Panoguide member Dan Smigrod...
One from a group of firefighters: tourwrist.com/tours/23934
And the other, a church group: tourwrist.com/tours/23932

If you are in the UK, your pano may be for British troops, if you are in France, for French troops, etc. This campaign is unconcerned with nationality or religious denomination. Its universal message is one of support and appreciation.

Gather ‘Round Your Troops for the Holidays greetings share the tour tag “troops” to help armed forces around the globe find the 360º salutes that await them.

Friends of the forum,

I want to be clear that my suggestion to GM Photoes that they use the Commercial Announce forum was not an endorsement of their campaign. I would also agree that their presentation leaves much to be desired. But most of all, I regret to see that the feedback in this thread has taken the form of ridicule. Sometimes people launch campaigns using the wrong model, they make typos in their materials, they lack the professionalism that others would expect, etc. Frankly, this happens all the time, but when it does, I ask that you consider whether your comments are constructive.

Respectfully,
Charles

Friends of the forum,

Unfortunately, this discussion has begun to go awry. In the interest of those who are here to learn about panoramic photography, rather than witness forum disputes, a few posts to this thread have been removed. Along with them, some arguably valuable — but also intertwined — feedback was also removed. If you have something that you'd like to add (or reinsert), please keep to the topic of this thread. And if you have an issue with another user, please either address them offline, or bring the dispute to our attention.

Thanks for your understanding,

Friends,

A few responses have been removed from this thread, as they were not constructive. While we all have opinions about various products and business models, unsolicited criticism or name–calling is unnecessary and counter–productive.

Tour Wrist has just reached 20,000 listings and continues to grow at a tremendous pace. Meanwhile, positive endorsements continue to spread just as quickly. This past week, Tour Wrist was highlighted again in the App Store under What's Hot and for being a Top Travel App. As well, our platform was featured twice on WIRED and on the home page of Fast Company Design.
