I will take care of the dust spots. thank you. as for the white balance it was set at 5600K and that is how it looks like before the dawn. I really like this golden look and only worked during those days and hours I had it in. best, misu

as back-up I am running Photomatix right now but it doesn't deliver predictable results. I have a to batch a large folder (about 4000) and there is no way I can manually convert each bracketed sequence. I thought about doing it in PTGui but in the past I had some errors with that and it took so much to stitch. so I guess there is no alternative. has anyone tried LR/Enfuse plug-in? would it be practical for a large batch?

hello. I am looking for an Enfuse based HDR software that has an auto-align function, is available for Windows and has a GUI. so far I only found Bracketeer for Mac. any suggestions, please?

I only have ptgui 8 so masking is not an option. after I crop I don't optimize anymore so I expect the images to remain where they are.

in the crop tab I crop one of the images after I set on the "individual" function. I simply want to trim a section of the image, about 1o% of one side, where I see a part of the tripod. by doing this I alter the aspect ratio.

hello!
after I optimize an equirectangular panorama and everything seems to be right I try to crop one of the images. when I load the project into the batch stitcher I get a message that I should optimize again. I ignore the message and I find in the final image that the cropped section is out of place. it looks like ptgui still optimizes the project. I only tried stitching in the batch module.
is there an option to disable this function? is it a bug in the batch module as I have seen others?
thank you, misu

thanks everybody!
I read hans' tutorial and it was very helpful. it made me clear why the images were not aligned properly. I did not even try to generate control points in pairs, as I had 246 overlapping images. I started by deleting control points that were obviously wrong, in the list. I did this three or for times and then optimized. I still have some points with a large error and the result is only "good" but it looks like the fresco. I hope I won't have to retouch it.
the panorama was taken in three rows of 82, covering 290 degrees. I also tried autopano giga but it did not work, even if I was able specify the rows and columns when loading.
I'll post again when finished. thank you, misu

I think in the case of the fresco, the ornamental patterns are not really a problem. I tried to load one row only, 82 images, then manually input the yaw and let ptgui find control points. optimizing did not work. very bad. I then checked all the control points and they are spot on. I never had so many of them in the right position. still by optimizing I get a huge (600,000) error. what might be the problem? is there another software that handles gigapanoramas better?

hello! I photographed a cilindrical fresco with a 550d/t2i + 135 mm fitted on a nodal ninja rd16, with a 3.5 degrees increment, on three rows. the camera was in the center of the round hall. I ended up with 246 images that are impossible to stitch in ptgui 8.3. all I get is cloud of pictures randomly placed. for the first 10 pairs I checked they seem to have correct control points (4 or 5). I tried to erase the metadata of the images in order to type the lens and sensor data by hand. I tried to manually input the yaw and uncheck the roll option in the optimize tab (as they were only vertical images). the overlap is about 40% horizontal and 50% vertical. yet the fresco is embeded in an ornamental repetitive structure that might deceive ptgui when searching for control points. in the past I was able to stitch hundreds of hand held images in gigapixel panoramas with ptgui, but now...
I have another problem, in the same hall, with a spherical panorama taken in the same setup as above, but with 35mm lens. the structure is repetitive and, even after manually inserting yaw, pitch and roll with good results, ptgui was not able to generate control points. I will have to do more of those and I can't figure it out.
any help, please?
misu

anyway it would have been to late. photosynth launched a photoshop plug-in that finally allows users to upload equirectangular images and edited panoramas, such as gigapixel images. so far all this goes for free and the player works excellent. before that I was able to trick photosynth by loading overlapping cube faces: photosynth.net/userprofilepage.aspx?user=OrasulMe...
so now I hope the three types of images (spherical, giga and mosaic) will be gathered in single costumizable projects, maybe adding sound and video. the basic functions photosynth already offers are spectacular so I have faith.

thank you. I tried the recommended process on a low res couple and it works well. I find that ptgui worked different for the corresponding areas in the two images but I can live with that. thanks again! misu
