Heinz,
The clamp you suggested has the wrong orientation. However, RRS offers also a FAS clamp which is exactly what is needed to solve the problem.

Anyway, thank you for all your help. The pictures you had posted on the nodal ninja showed clearly that the nodal ninja clamp and rail suffered from the same problem, which is precisely what I wanted to know.

Thanks for your answer. I realize that photos can be stitched even with a part of the rail within frame. Blenders typically avoid these parts and the mask feature of PTGui can be used to make sure that they are not used. But there are some situations when one needs full control of the seam placement. This is why I would rather not have a rail in pictures. I simply wonder whether purchasing a Nodal Ninja rail with Nodal Ninja clamp would solve the problem.

I use an RRS Ultimate-Pro Omni-Pivot Package with Nikon D300. Some time ago I switched to a Sigma 8mm lens. The problem I have is that a part of an upper rail (around 3.5cm) is visible within frame. Do users of NodalNinja M1 head have the same problem? The RRS upper rail is 189m, whereas the M1 upper rail is either 170mm or 160mm so the difference is at most 2.9cm. On the other hand, the NN clamp may provide some additional offset. First hand testimonials are greatly appreciated.

What is the distance between the NPP of Sigma 8mm f/3.5 and and the NPP of Nikkor 10.5mm?

Thank you very much for your response. Systematic Series do not have a built-in center column. From the page you linked to:
Gitzo Systematic tripods are the strongest and most stable tripods available in the market and offer unsurpassed flexibility of use. These tripods are a unique modular system that can be quickly transformed into different configurations. In particular, a center column can be added as an accessory. For example, I am going to buy this column: www.gitzo.com/product/72038.2019.71846.0.0/GS3511... Unfortunately, Gitzo does not provide information about the column diameter. Is it possible to order the lock rings in all sizes? They are not listed individually on the Nodal Ninja website.

Does anybody use a NN Zenith / Nadir Adapter for R1/R10 with a Gitzo Series 3 Systematic tripod? If so, what is an appropriate lock ring size for a center column? In other words, what is a diameter of a center column for Gitzo Series 3 Systematic tripods?
I am also interested what is the heaviest combination that is safe to use with a R1 and a nadir adapter? Is D300 with Sigma 8mm too heavy? What about D700 with Sigma 8mm?

Trausti is right. It is a bug. Krpano does not have this problem.

Using my very basic and limited php/http knowledge, I succeeded in downloading a cube face from one of your panos on www.mundopano.com. During the processes, I was able to invoke some SQL errors and these errors where reported in the browser. Since some of your "visitors" may have not necessarily academic interest in playing with your site, it is probably a good idea to do a security audit of your code.
It seems like encrypting stuff using krpano protect or a similar tool is the only way to go. Has anybody managed to bypass this kind of protection (and I do not mean taking a screenshot)?

Doug Aurand said: I'm curious why you are so stuck on the idea that there can only be one set of coordinates for a point on a sphere?
I am not. Uniqueness of coordinates is a desirable but not necessary feature of a coordinate system. Thanks to uniqueness, one avoids ambiguity and redundancy. It also increases clarity and efficiency. However, there are situations when it is more convenient to use multiple coordinates.
Doug Aurand said: That a Single Point has more than one pair of Coordinates that locate it, doesn't mean there are two Different Points
I know that. As a matter of fact it was me who wrote
Doug Aurand said: If you allow 0° ≤ θ ≤ 360°, 0° ≤ φ < 360°, you will get a sphere as well (not two spheres as some people suggested)...
My point was/is that describing a sphere as 360°x360° is acceptable (from mathematical point of view) but not necessary. 360°x180° is sufficient. This is just mathematics.
A lot of this discussion is just semantic juggling combined with mean remarks. Fortunately, it does not affect the underlying mathematics in any way. Mathematical terms have very precise meanings and they basically leave no room for interpretation. If one deviates from these meanings and add "common sense logic" to the mix, problems will typically emerge. For example, you write
Doug Aurand said: Oddly, none of the engineers or mathematicians posting in this thread are assuming "360° Virtual Tours" or "360° Virtual Images" is, mathematicly, an image that is just a 2 dimensional cicle.
What did you mean by that?
My posts only meant to clarify mathematical aspects of the problem. If you feel that 360°x360° better conveys the idea of a spherical panorama in your business, that is fine with me.

Doug Aurand said: Looking at the image you have I'm curious, is there a reason θ and φ can't be expressed as a number greater than 180°?
They can but if you allow other values, then you will loose the uniqueness. As Nick previously explained
if θ can be bigger than 180°, what happens?
Let's look at a point (r, 270°, 180°), θ=270°, it is on negative of axis A. φ=180°, so it is also on negative of axis A.
But this point is exactly (r, 90°, 180°).
any point will be counted twice if you allow θ to go from 0°-360°. The bottom line is that these angles can be really whatever you want but you will get some redundancy; so the inequalities 0° ≤ θ ≤ 180°, 0° ≤ φ < 360° are sufficient to describe a sphere. If you allow 0° ≤ θ ≤ 360°, 0° ≤ φ < 360°, you will get a sphere as well (not two spheres as some people suggested) but points will not have unique coordinates.
