Ya know, you guys (and gals?) are the best with your support. I took you comments and went back to the hotel today to try again, www.tmhdesign.com/room.html smile I am very happy with the outcome. Can it be better than this? Also, in using PTGUI I am curious that if I want to say fix the dimensions so as to get the lowest size file but the best picture how to do this? I would think that a 4mb file to download on a hotel website is a bit much. When I use to use easypano I would get a decent jpg file down to about 500kb for a nice panorama?

Please look at this panorama -

www.tmhdesign.com/room.html

I am a bit challenged at this effort. I am using a D80 with a 360P Adjuste. A 10.5 lens.

Given this example, I need to do about 5 other rooms just like it in this hotel. What challenges me is what mode to use in the camera, ie p, a, s, m, what to set the initial aperature/speed to, and if I bracket to what extent over/under? I really would apprecite your assistance.

I am going to shoot a hotel tomorrrow in Santa Barbara California, www.casadelmar.com I plan on shooting several rooms where there will be four walls with one walling having a large window(s). In trying to learn this I am wondering how many photos to shoot? I have read the tutorials on this site but still am not sure.

1) When shooting interior panoramas in the day when walls have windows should I always BRACKET each image? If so that would mean I take 27 images no? 6x3 for the 360, 3 images of the zenith, and 6 images of the nadir?

I am using a D80 with a 360Adjuste and a Nikkor 10.5 mm lens.

2) Should I be shooting in RAW format? I use PTGUI
If I shoot in RAW do I first open those in PS and then export them as jpgs to then be opened in PTGUI.

THANKS SO MUCH!

Start to Finish - How Long?

If I understand the process correctly the 27 images come from the following. I understand for HDR I need to take 3 frames for each picture. That is 6 60 Degree images, 3 of the zenith, and 6 of the nadir with the camera turned 180 for two sets of nadir shots. Am I missing something?

I was doing my first couple of panoramas last night and had some questions. First, I went to this house -
www.tmhdesign.com/house.html and took a total of 27 images, using bracketing. I took them in raw format with a large jpg image for each file as well. I am using ptgui and was not able to load the raw images but rather only the jpgs. I noticed that it does take some time for stitching. I am curious for an average panorama such as this one (or kitchen.html) how long should it take start to finish, including photographing and stitching? Also for a first attempt how did I do? I am using the 360 adjuste, a D80, 10.5 mm. The large wall with the windows challenged me a bit, I do not like the reflection from the front door. Thanks for your time.

I'm all about effeciency and had a thought on my morning run this morning. I can spend hours and hours reading tutorials and learning the process of shooting great virtual tours I am sure. But then I thought surely there might be someone somewhere who could give me personal instructions - at a cost for sure. I'm just curious if there is anyone reading this who might consider such an arrangement? I live in Northern California and would be willing to travel world wide if I knew I could learn to do this as well as many of panoramas I see online. In addition, I am sure if I found the right person it could be arranged that that person could benefit financially from my business as I have a lot of contacts in upscale hotels all over Europe. Thanks.

I really appreciate the discussion my thread prompted. It confirms that PTGUI is as good of choice as any and unless i learn otherwise I will probably buy it. THANKS. What a great group. T

I am investing in hardware and software to create interior & exterior virtual tours of various multi-million dollar homes & luxury hotels. I bought the adjuste head from 360P, a Nikon D80, a Nikkor 10.5 fisheye lens, an SB800 Flash. I'm now down to choosing software. I hear a lot of discussion of PTGUI and I get the impression this is the software of choice amongst the true professionals. Am I wrong? Does it offer something others do not? Thanks.
