Hi all ! It's been a long time since I shot VR panoramas, but yesterday I took the opportunity to make one, while I was walking on Geneva lakeside, near the Fountain ! It was raining, and the sun was just setting over the Jura Mountains...
Here's the "equirectangular" view:
...and the URL where I uploaded the 360x180 degrees panorama: www.360cities.net/image/dsc3130-33-ptgui-p2vr-con....20,-1.00,96.8 !
TIP: if you click on the OPEN MAP sign (on the center left), you will have a Google Map of the location !
Have fun !
 J-P.

How about the Sigma 4.5mm f/2.8 ? It's a DX lens, so would give 180 degrees circular view on your D90 !
I reckon you could use it the same way as the 10.5 on a D700: 4 shots around + 1 for Nadir !

A big thank you for the tips, Hans ! I tried it in my own elevator, wich has about the same size, and it did work all right: viewat.org/?hd=1&i=en&id_aut=2489&id_pn=11904&pag... !
Now, another thing strikes me in your panos: their sharpness, even zoomed in to the maximum... Would you mind giving us some tips, or better, at tutorial on your sharpening workflow ?
TIA, J-P.

...or am I wrong, and the EXIT pupil position has nothing to do with the ENTRANCE pupil position ?
Too bad in this case... I thought I had "discovered" something useful !?!

I just discovered in the freeware program PHOTOME (www.photome.de/) a very useful data for the "panoramists" !
About 2/3 down the page, you will see the ENTRANCE PUPIL DISTANCE -sometimes called NODAL POINT- of the lens used, at the focal length used, of course ! I guess one will get this data for most -if not all- camera/lens set-up !
In the example below, I used the Nikon 14-24mm. f/2.8, at 14mm. of focal length ! The entrance pupil distance is at 85.3 mm. of the jointure of the lens and the camera body !
Hope this helps ?!?
Cheers, J-P.

Hi Hans ! I had a look at your serie of panos (panoramas.dk/panorama/batch-stitch/demo1/) and noted one very interesting thing: your LOGO at the nadir of all panos don't rotate while one is rotating the panoramas...
Do you mind to tell what is the command to do that ?
TIA, J-P.

Hi Heinz ! I downloaded your 4 images and added as many CP as I could, near the edges...
Here's what PTGui gave me:
Strange: 9.527 mm of focal length instead of the 10.5 announced by Nikon !?! ...and almost 203 degrees of FOV !!!
...but the stitching was perfect and I didn't (after much scrutinization ;=/ ) find any defect !
...so I'm going to save the result as a TEMPLATE for all the spherical panos shot with the combo D700 + 10.5 !
Is this the correct way to use templates, and will it work everytime the same ?
Cheers, J-P.

Smooth said: Right click and read the URL then change the number in the URL to match that of the gallery image you require.
Thanks Smooth ! I have been able to grab the one you showed above, by right-click on it then "Save Image as...", but I don't understand exactly HOW to do what you said !?!
...my english perhaps isn't up to snuff...
