Never edit the edges of an Equi, only if you can do it exactly symmetrical. You could shift the entire image and then edit the part you want.

It looks like the input image was resized to hide the tripod and missing parts of the bottom of the panorama. You should leave the equirectangular image intact (2:1 aspect ratio) and edit the hole in the cubeface-fase with Photoshop

That's because the time-space-continuum reflects you intentions upon the picture.... nah,
You mean Panoshots displayed as an equirectangular image like the ones you see in this header, that is the only way to display a 360 degree image, if straight lines remain straight the image would be infinitely long.
Have a look at the How-to section of this site to learn more on the technique. www.panoguide.com/howto/
Or visit Panoramas.dk for more explanation on the subject.
Or explain exactly what you mean, like if you are already experimenting and have stumbled upon a problem. Let us know the equipment, workflow and software you are using.
Good luck.

Nice, I like the fake tilt shft idea. I'm currently working on a combined 12 scene combined miniature panorama myself. I'll show it when it's ready (can take a while )

Works fine here, MacOSX Safari just 10 seconds loading.
Jeff, maybe it's wise to show/explain what exactly you are selling, not just the result of what it is capable of. Before people are willing to spend $500 they need to be sure it's worth it.

It all depends on the kind of subject and how the final panorama will be displayed. For virtual tours of a hotel the carpet is not very important. In a church however the floor should be almost perfect imho. For print you should be really carefull with all cloning tools, the print pattern can reveal unwanted editing 'scars'.
John's way is very accurate but can be time consuming on the photography end, a handheld shot can cost you extra photoshop time. Take your pick

2 minutes PhotoShop, healing brush!
This was done the quick way, a little more attention to existing shadows and patterns and the result can look even better.

Hello Herr/Frau Kure,
Welcome to the forum. (see how easy that was )
What triggerhappy was trying to say is that perhaps a little common decency on introduction on this forum will get you a long way. Perhaps even will get you to have people try to help you stitch "a set of low res images shot from a tripod but not with the same settings in lighting and focus and not with a nodal point calibrated setup, taken of a rusty fence at sea".
Most of us here are enthousiasts in the field of panoramic imagery and willing to help each other voluntarily, no request can be strange enough! I for one have learned a lot from these people here! Thanks again guys, btw (wow, I did it again )

Looks very promising indeed. I'm a little curious about the stitching quality but even if that isn't up to par compared to lets say PTGui, it is still great to be able to edit in the 3D space of a panorama.

We mean that QuickTime as a presentation method for VR panoramas is slowly disappearing, being replaced by Flash. Not that we like it but unfortunately it is not wise present a panorama that forces people to download a plugin, despite the quality.
For us, 'professionals' QuickTime will not die though!

perhaps if you render it at 5000x2500 pixels (like most of us did) you get a result that compares better

Pete: .... Now I shall wait for the usual hate mail, this time from the Mac Militia.
Don't worry, that useless anyway, Macs are better (just kidding).
I just ran the test using PTGuis stitcher and that took 2'.06"
I'm running it from a 5400 RPM almost full HD. Works for me anyway!
