R1 R10 + monopod + manfrotto pole level + 8mm
If you plan on panos with good lighting it is hard to beat these. It is not hard to do and you will do more panos because it is easy to set up. On a recent morning this panos took about five minutes:

Maybe when there are no new posts the sound of a cricket would be appropriate!

I am glad I treat it as more art than trade. For my purposes the ability to show where I have traveled makes doing panoramas fun ( especially now that setup and processing is easier ! ) The still quality of a panorama and the ability to look where you want as you rotate around conveys a different experience than a video. Single pictures can be beautiful and I have way too many, but panoramas are also beautiful and fun for the viewer. Too bad the commercial end is changing and the havoc it will cause. I suspect that a certain degree of the advances in panorama software / hardware were driven by the commercial end.

I would ask this on your forum but I can't seem to log in! Does your mini adapter plate for the Quick release mini adapter come in a model with a 1/4" threaded hole ( vs. 1/4" threaded male )? I would like to be able to put it on my monopod's 1/4" threaded male fitting. Also, for anyone who has used this system, are you satisfied with its safety, keeping in mind the thousands of dollars worth of gear entrusted to it?

Thanks for the heads up. It seems that as usual if things are too good to be true... The Phottix people said 7 exposures, but there should be a huge caveat when those 7 images are so restricted!

Fantastic. I am glad you are getting more nature shots to showcase your talent. Was this D300 / Sigma 8? Great range from a single exposure.

Get the RD8. You will not regret it, but you may regret the standard rotator.

The bigger problem is making the inserted flowers look like they belong in the image. It is hard to mimic the lighting from the background image.

Is it really worth re inventing the wheel on this? Seems like a lot of production expense for something already ( albeit expensively ) produced, but as you will find it is expensive to get your hands on all these cameras. Maybe a laser scanner and a few hours in a camera store... I like the idea of a standard plate and epoxy putty to mold to the profile of any camera. Epoxy would key into machined keys in the plate and wrap up around the front or back of camera body 1/4" or so to eliminate twisting.
