Running out of contributors to hang on the cross?
I give five years of my time helping to keep the PanoTools dream alive and all you can come up with is ways to twist the truth and trash whoever gets in your way.
If anyone is thinking of making a contribution to a panorama group, you may end up in the same boat as I am. It's easier to blame and trash others then get off your own lazy ass and make a difference.

Klus,
FYI: The original PanoTools wiki is a collection of contributions about panorama photography. The NG wiki has morphed into the Hugin user manual and launch pad for Google summer of code projects. The original concept behind the PanoTools wiki was lost when it was forked by the NG group.

James,
Well that kills the wiki idea. (php based) Lets hope you stay healthy because finding someone to maintain your creation will be difficult.
Good luck with whatever direction you go.

BTW: I just went to the jforum site and it was off line.
I would give up on anything Java based. Haven't you gone through enough pain already keeping this monster going?

James,
I would be happy to transfer the original PanoTools wiki to you as the new caretaker. If you are thinking of using a standard PHP based forum I would go with Simple Machines. It's a much nicer forum package then phpBB.

Smartblend Users,
Please use the following URL for Smartblend information and downloads since Michael's home page was a sub-domain of the PanoTools site. I asked Michael to find other hosting arrangements but didn't get a reply.
wiki.panotools.org/Smartblend

You should be careful what you wish for. Now your stuck with NG and the 50 active posting members rehashing the same old topics. (with 10% or better being moderators)
It really doesn't matter anymore as there are friendly groups like the Panoguide and Max Lyons forum to move the panorama community forward.

Thomas,
The PanoTools group was created by me in April of 2003 on the Yahoo Groups mailing list. I setup the original PanoTools Wiki in Nov. of 2004. In June of 2006 Yual and his friends started a list revolt. (some political correctness thing, corporate structure and an army of moderators at the helm) The PanoTools members list was used to send a email that the list had moved. The member that donated the .org URL took back his donation and used it as a bargaining tool for a seat as a moderator for the new group. The rest is history.
Where have you been all these years?

There is no money to be made hosting a panorama portal. The Panoguide is the leader in panorama sites and James has done a wonderful job keeping the forum growing and everyone inline. (least amount of bickering of all forums/lists)
After five years of supporting PanoTools (time & $$$) there isn't enough participation and the sponsors I did have are not renewing. I also manage the ScriptBasic open source project and it has consumed all my free time.
I enjoyed working with all the friends I have made over the years and wish you all well.

Forum Members,
Due to the lack of participation on the forum / mailing list and the loss of sponsors, the PanoTools site will be closing at the end of May.

Panoguide Forum Members,
If your lens is missing from the 'lens database' and you have the needed information, please send the data for inclusion. If you would like a wiki editing account to add them yourself, that would be great also.

I'm trying to match the correct lens to to spec.'s in the table for the Sigma 70-300mm entry. Are the values presented the same for all four lenses?
Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 APO DG MACRO Sigma 70-300mm f/4-5.6 DG MACRO Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 APO Macro Super II Sigma 70-300mm F4-5.6 DL Macro Super II

Ranjan,
I have added the Canon 10D, 40D and D60 L1 values to the table. I also sorted the table by name to make things easier to find if this list starts to grow.
As soon as we get a bit more info for the lenses, I'll add them as well.
Thanks for the contributions you have made so far.
