Hi Rudders

I am running vista home 64bit. I choose the 64 bit solely because it supports up to 8gb of ram.

Which set-up do you use for your high res panos?

Hi Amanda

Yes I know I'll need a fast computer - and have a lot of patience, and a lot of free server space wink
I upgraded my computer early this summer to be able to process panoramas faster, so I hope that my new quadcore 9300 with 8gb ram will do the job. I am just not sure there's a market for it yet.....

@ John

If I understand you correctly, then my current rotator allows me to shoot multirow zooming in to about 56mm?? this then meand that I will need to buy a new rotator.

@ Amanda
Thanks for your suggestions. I don't really understand the first two suggestions, but I can see that the 70-200 F4 IS you mentioned, is 1080euro / 1600usd / 871gbp.

I am not sure that there is a market for high res panoramas in my area that justify such an investment. But boy it would be cool smile

Hello everybody.

I just got a job where I have to shoot a panorama from the roof of a building in Copenhagen.
It could be very interesting to make a multirow high resolution panorama and display it with KRpano. But so far I have only been shooting with a canon 5d, sigma 8mm f3.5, agnos tcpShort.
I have tried reading up on the subject but it is hard to figure it all out.

I already have a canon 17-40mm lens, but I can understand that I will need a zoom lense like a 70-200mm. But there are so many different 70-200mm lenses in many different price categories. Can anybody make a suggestion to a good affordable lense for this purpose?

Also my rotator is a Agnoos TCPshort. Will this be adequate? It have click stops at every 18degree. Is that good enough?

Any other pointers or good advice is very welcome .)

Oh Mighty Gandalf - with this new wisdom you are now prepared to enter the realm of the amazing FPP.

(just fun - not sure you understand my Danish humor translated to poor english - I do apologize wink)

For future reference I highly advice you to use the FPP forum at www.flashpanoramas.com/forum

If you need help getting started I can also set you in touch with a "friend" of mine who have helped me understand some of the coding of FPP. He also offers to build templates for you - so all you have to do is to concentrate on making panoramas.
It have saved me a lot of time.
Let me know if you want his contact details.

Regards
Morten

BTW
here are 2 templates he have helped me with:

Hello everybody who have helped me here.

I just want to let everybody know that after an answer in an other thread I posted I have learned that most of my stitching problems are caused when I choose "blend using smartblend" If I just stitch with the PTGui blender most of my stitching errors disappear.
I am just soooooo happy to learn this *SSSSSS*

I think that most people use cube faces and qtvr movies.

If you are using cube faces I highly recommend the cache plugin from flashpanos.com here www.flashpanos.com/plugins/zephyr/image-cache-plug

Hello everybody.

Today I discovered a new problem using PTgui.

I set up a project in PTgui. Before creating the panorama I always preview it - just to check if everything is ok.

Here is an extract from the preview:

As you can see it looks fine. There are some small stitching errors, but they are correctable in Photoshop.

After previewing I create the panorama. But looking at the created panorama it now looks like this:

Can anybody explain this strange behaviour?

Hello everybody

Thank you so much for your replies. Once again the help offered in this forum is amazing.

Unfortunately much of the explaining is beyond my comprehension. I have tried to follow the instructions for how to calibrate the lens, but I didn't get to the end.
I am beginning to understand that my knowledge about PTgui and stitching needs a thorough update. I know a guy who have recently tutored me via instant messaging. I think it is time to have an other lesson or two.
It is actually pretty simple. I "just" want help setting up my equipment and PTGui so I can stitch my panoramas as fast as possible......... Cross your fingers for me smile

Hi Guys

Thank you for all of your help so far.

Some of you have requested a set of images for testing. I have therefore uploaded a file contaning 5 images. 4 at every 90degree and one up.

You can find the files in a zipped folder at www.wideeyes.dk/temp/test-stitch.zip

I sometimes leave out the "up" shot when stitching. It is often the ceiling that is difficult getting to stich correctly. Even when I ad control points.

If anybody can tell me anytjhing helpfull from these testing images - or if you need additional images for testing, please let me know smile

Hello everybody

Tank you all for the response.
I am still on "vacation" but I will be back in front of my work station monday or tuesday - and then I will of course gladly upload some images for testing.

@Ireman
Calibrating the lense and making a template - how difficult is that??

Hello everybody.

I am shooting a lot of panoramas for hotels at the moment, and it is comming too time consuming having to correct stitching errors in PTgui and PS. I am therefore considering to buy a new pano head - IF it will actually improve my workflow.

At the moment I am shooting with a canon 5d, sigma 8mm f3.5, Agnos TCPshort with RingT and I have to correct stitching errors almost every time.
I know that many people will most likely advice me to look at the No Paralex Point before buying a new panohead. But I doubt I can get a better NPP then I have already. Not that it is perfect, but.......... well let's just say that I have been spending a lot of time correcting the NPP, and I don't think I am able to get it any better.

So... I have been considering buying a 360precision. But..... is it as good as they claim? How easy / hard is it to find the NPP with a 360 percision? How likely is it that I won't have to correct stitching errors with their rotator?? And lastly - what rotator is the best for my setup??

Thank you all so much in advance smile

PTgui + distortion

Hello guys.

So i tried following the tutorial (I didn't have time untill now) at a different pano, and it worked great. I just assigned 2 vertical lines to all 4 shots (4 round @ 90degree) and the 8 new control points fixed the problems cool

This will most likely be part of my standard workflow from now on as most of my stitching in PTGui seems to suffer for the lack of vertical control points.

Now I just need to get the Enfuse function to work properly so I can speed up the workflow when I need to do multiple panoramas.
