G'day Stu,
All you need is an Architect/Cad person who knows what they're doing
panedia.biz/vst/vtlite.swf?pano=550016&h=p
This 3D interior was created in lighwave and output to an equirectangular image using a plugin (I think). I then put the image through our normal pano process.

G'day Morten,
I have the D700 & 14-24mm but have never used them for panos. I use the 16mm fisheye on D700 body (6+1).
I do recall reading a test by Hans? on shooting with a 14mm rectilinear on fullframe recently. Might have been Samyang. Was theoretically possible to shoot 6 around horizontal... but don't quote me on that

Jon,
Hans is correct, I 'was' an IVRPA Board member for 2009/2010 and therefore involved in very many meetings that discussed the '400 patent issues at length.
I do not speak for or on behalf of the IVRPA anymore, so take anything I say as my opinion only.
I don't see any hysteria being whipped up. The IVRPA has been following a slow methodical process to deal with a looming threat. (Some would say too slow)
As some have pointed out it's been a couple of years since the '400 patent started being used as a weapon. Most of us hoped it would die the natural death of a rubbish patent, but unfortunately that has not happened, so we have to proactively kill it.
Thanks,

At present this is mainly a USA problem, but it is a serious issue. I'm not directly affected in Australia but I've donated a small amount.
When our fellow pano photographers are attacked via highly unethical means I believe we should all stand up and be counted, even if we aren't in the firing line.
If we are successful then future patent trolls will think twice before attacking our industry.

Nice work, I ran the latest Oloneo build a week or 2 ago on a display home shoot also. Results were great.
I like the batch process, that allows you to tweak each image set as you go. Certainly slower than a true batch (which you can also do) but vastly quicker than manually producing each set.
I used to use Photomatix, and had to tweak the HDR images in Photoshop afterwards. Zero additional tweaking required in Oloneo as it allows you to control the Dynamic range, then adjust the output contrast/brightness plus colour correction all in the one process.

Thanks Jon,
So I gather it's working OK for you? I'll let the client know it's possible and send the instructions. I'm not planning to get involved in setting this up, as it's a very small job.
Much apprecaited, Aaron.

Thanks Doug,
We've done offline versions of our virtual tours for clients which are flash.exe's as you've noted.
But this client does a lot of PowerPoint presentations from what I can gather and would like a pano of the place he's selling to sit spinning in his presentation from time to time while he's talking rather than a still image or bullet points.
We could easily output a video he could embed but at HD quality file sizes become very large and playback speed an issue.

G'day Guys,
Has anyone tried putting a Pano2VR .swf (ie self contained panorama file - no xml/image tile requirements) into PowerPoint recently?
I have a potential client wanting to put some panos into a PP presentation. I don't have or use PowerPoint, so thought I'd ask here before doing a bunch of messing around.
I've looked at the archives and Google... didn't see much of value there.
Thanks,

G'day All,
I met Charles at the Tucson 2010 conference, he's passionate and articulate about our industry, while being nothing but open and interested in what 'we' the producers have to say. I look forward to Tour Wrist being the new Overlords of our Panoguide forum
Thanks,

Note: I have no commercial dealings with TW and haven't uploaded an image to their service. I do plan to give it a good run though... when I get some spare time.

Thanks Dorin,
You read my mind. I've got 5 or 6 of the flood panoramas shot previously, we're putting together a quick dual pano viewer to see them both at the same time. Then I can go back and shoot the scenes I don't have at a later date.
I'm heading to Sydney (1000km away) in the morning, so not sure I'll have that done until next week when I'm back.
Thanks, Aaron.

G'day All,
I managed to get up to Brisbane for a few hours today to document some of the flooding. I shot about 40 panoramas, which unfortunately covers only a tiny amount of the flooded area.
panedia.biz/vst/vtmap.swf?map=zpgfgqtn
Anyone wishing to donate to help those affected can do so here: www.qld.gov.au/floods/donate.html
Thanks, Aaron. Panedia.
BTW: I live on the Gold Coast, about 70km south of these panoramas. We've been very fortunate and have escaped any flooding.

Nikkor 16 mm or 10,5

G'day Jon,
10.5mm (shaved) on D700 - 3 or 4 shots (4 = more overlap, easier to stitch) - equirectangular image around 7000 x 3500
16mm on D700 - 6 shots around + 1 up - equirect around 11,500 x 5,750
For interest:
10.5mm (shaved) on Canon 5DmkII (with adapter) - 3 or 4 shots (4 = more overlap, easier to stitch) - equirect image around 9500 x 4750
10.5mm on Nikon D7000 - 6 shots around + 1 up - equirect image around 12,500 x 6250
Both the 10.5mm and 16mm are outstanding options depending on your shooting situation. I use the 16mm + D700 on a 360precision head for 98% of my shooting. The results are beautiful.
I use the 10.5mm + D700 or 5KmkII on a Nodal Ninja pole for crowds and event situations. The results are very good.
The D700 sensor is far superior to the D300. The dynamic range is at least 2 stops higher, enabling good detail to be pulled out of shadows that are noisy mush on a D300. I'm not recommending anyone with a D300 sells immediately, it depends on your situation and shooting style as to whether you would see the D700's advantages, for a lot of money spent.
Thanks, Aaron. panedia.com

As good as the pano work is, quoting a difficult job, and having your timing working out very close, is just as impressive. Congratulations.

Great work on the pano. I'm interested in how you quoted the job, and whether you ended making money spending 2hrs shooting and 2 days in post for that one pano
