"A quick seach on the net found others with the same problem and this image in a review, which was not in English so i have no idea if they were complaining."
I suppose it is this. www.panophoto.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=3056

Sorry but why are you posting this problems here.
Contact Panomaxx and describe your problems. He is a very nice guy and I am sure he will help you. www.panorama-hardware.de/2/shop_content.php?coID=7
The PanoMaxx is a very nice and good pano head for the price and I never heard anyone complain about the problems you describe.
Doing it like this in an open forum without having talked to the vendor is bad manners.
And BTW not a quick search but a very thorough search does not give me anything with these problems. Not even in German search. Instead I get very fine reviews.

Unless you are in the middle of Sahara and do not have a stick you can do it without any extra equipment anywhere .
A foreground like the corner of a house at 1 m distance or a long pin or a tree is all you need.
If you really want to do it at location instead of doing it once for all at home get a self standing monopod to put in front of you.

gus said: Can anyone using this lens on a FF camera please share what the correct Ptgui settings are? When I select fullframe lens, 1x crop factor and try to enter 8mm, it automatically changes to 12.74. HFov is 180' What am I doing wrong?
I assume you have shaved the lenshood off ?
If not it is waste on a fullframe.
If it says 8 12 of 9 mm does not matter. The important is the FOV The correct info is to set the cropcircle to the actual circle (shaved) and the FOV to 180 degrees. It will then change to around 10 mm if you have multiplier set to 1
PTgui will optimize it to the correct FOV which will be around 180 The examples I have says 177 degrees which makes 10.33mm. for 4 around on a 5D. It may be slightly different for 3 around and it also depends on how good you cover the full FOV with controlpoints.
If you use cropcircle to the corners on a 1.5 camera your FOV should still be 180 degrees but the focal length will change to 6.82mm

DO NOT USE THE PROFILES
The Ca removal has nothing to do with profiles even if it is in the profiles tab
No you do not need any manual adjustment.
I have done tests on all the lenses we normally use for panoramas and the maximal manual removal with the old sliders, CA+defringe all is identical.
You can download two examples here, these are Photoshop layers. Here is Tokina 10-17 at 10mm www.panoramas.dk/panorama/CameraRaw/ACR_autoCA-to...
Nikor 10.5 on 5D no Exif nothing for Camera Raw to identify. This is a smaller crop from center and corner.
www.panoramas.dk/panorama/CameraRaw/ACR_autoCAsma...
As I already said the defringe is a much more important option than CA removal.
Thats why Adobe has developed a very advanced defringe option in LightRoom blogs.adobe.com/lightroomjournal/2012/04/new-colo...
If I understand it right it will also be an option in Photoshop CS6 Camera Raw.

If you look down on the profiles tab you find an option for Ca This is completely automatic. Also for any lens old or new.
It does not need to have a profile. Even my old lenses from the 70 and 80s are perfectly optimized for Ca.
You also need to check the defringe of course because that is a much more important matter for most fisheyes.
The 2 options should not have been on 2 tabs of course as they belong together.

I think you have some confusions here regarding what HTML5 panoramas is.
Currently only Safari supports real HTML5 CSS3D panoramas. You already have the best viewer for this KRPano.
The pano2vr versions which now is also supported by Chrome and Firefox are as far as I know WebGl which also will be supported in the next version of KRPano. Plus KRpano will also support the IE10 version of HTML5 CSS3 which seems to be different than Safari. And they will not support webGL.
But remember there is a large public with older browsers which never will be able to see this without flash. And I doubt that any of the HTML5 versions will ever give the same performance as Flash. Currently max resolution on a high end computer is around 2200 pixels if you want smooth panning and no crashes.
Making an iframe embed is very easy. This is all the code you need in the page. <iframe name="pano" src="www.pirandello.it/virtualtour.html" frameborder="0" scrolling="no" height="450" width="420" > </iframe>
Here is an example of a pano embedded with iframe which in reality is on my server. www.sanktjakobskirke.dk/kirken/panorama/sankt-jak... The only problem is that HTML5 CSS3 does not work with fullscreen like flash does. If you want it to work in large size on iPad you need to make some work around . This is a demo which also supports ipad. www.360-foto.dk/sofia/
As you can see you are forced to open it in fullscreen and this is just a normal fullscreen command flash but on iPad this button links to a separate html which opens in the parent page or in a new page.
The back button links back to the original page.
KRpano xml has almost unlimited possibilities for doing this and to detect all the different versions of iPad and iPhone + android we have today.
You can actually design different navigation and different sizes of cubefaces for all this versions using one single xml.

If you are a Mac user yes. Unfortunately not updated to 64 bit so max size is around 15.000-20000 pixels depending on your RAM. And if you use CS5 in 64 bit it does not work. You have to start it i n 32 bit. I use both CS4 and CS 5 at same time because of this plugin.
pangeasoft.net/pano/plugin/panopreviewer.html
Many of us have asked him to update it but he seems not to be interested. Its pone of my favorite tools
I would be happy to pay 3 times the price just for it alone without Bracketeer.

No there is plenty overlap for 3 shots. However if your zenith is very important I would tilt up 5 degrees because the sharpness is not good at the last 15 degrees and the compressed projection makes it hard to stitch the zenith without a special zenith shot.

If I want something like this it should actually turn fast. The whole idea is to shoot with continuous at 1/1000 sec or shorter and turn the full 360 in 3-4 sec.
As I shoot 15 images at 5 per sec I get perfect action shots.
You need min 1/100 for this but with the current high ISO options and using full aperture that is not a problem any more.

In some types of images there is also a projection called vedutismo or panini which can be used to cheat the bad distortions at very large angles. Here are a couple of my panini panoramas which illustrates this www.panoramas.dk/panorama/panini/vedutismo.html
Note that you need to choose the right angle when you take the images to get the best results.
Here is another page with illustrations of the difference of spherical and cylindrical projection. www.panoramas.dk/panorama/projections/

Also read this on the Sigma page. "Designed for use with full frame digital SLR cameras. "
But that is what we pano photographers ignore because if we use it on an APS camera we get much better resolution and still 180 degrees vertically if we take the images in portrait as also all panoheads are designed to do.

Have you thought of mounting a small digital camera on it. I believe it could work with a 3/4 panasonic with the 8mm.

Shooting 6 up and down at 45 degrees with your camera and lens is a very bad and weird way of using it.
Most important the 45 degree down will have al lot of panohead in the image and that is bad unless you mask it out on all images. It will attract automatic controlpioints which can completely destroy the optimizing.
Always avoid to have the panohead in the images. If you shoot 10 degrees down you have everything included down to the rotator (If you use a NodalNinja or other head at similar size.)
You do not need more than 1 up at 60-70 degrees or 90 degrees. Only if you have some very detailed objects like mosaic windows high up it can be an advantage to shoot 3 at 45 degrees.
The missing part at the nadir is now very small and you can easy take that by moving the tripod around 70-80cm and lean it over the original centerpoint.
I do not even tilt down but I take the nadir with the camera at same -10 degrees as the 6 around. That means that the nadir becomes an extension of the 6 around and has the same quality.
When you learnt this technic you can take the nadir in less than 30 sec and with a little help of a self standing monopod as pointer you can even take the nadir in the exact NPP making it possible to do 3D nadirs and even do batch stitching with the nadir included.
This is an example of 6 panoramas which was batch stitched completely automatic with the nadir included. 5D markII + Canon 15mm panoramas.dk/panorama/batch-stitching-nadir/
