Pretty good Markouk (is that your name?)
The overall quality of the pano is great. I think you should look at some of the 'blown highlights' (i.e.sky and left of building). Generally, we use HDR techniques to avoid this.
There is plenty of good help and experience here to guide you through how to correct this. It may be helpful if you share some of your HDR process (software, number of exposures etc.)

Morten

Excellent! This is very close to using the 10.5 on a DX camera but with half the shots required. It would be great to see a sample when you have time. How does the 10.5mm hold up to the scrutiny of 36 megapixels?
I guess it will highlight some of the fringing and softness at the outer edges. However, I am hoping the extra resolution will make this a new standard for economical workflow maximising the detail for PTGui to do its thing.
Thanks for sharing,

Works nicely Hans.
It is little jerky whilst loading but quite smooth when fully loaded. Amazing detail at that resolution.
It might be a hard call as the first version still looked excellent and felt smoother to move.
Will have to leave you there as it is very late here in Oz.

Wow, very nice Hans!
It is great to see some really good options are now available for mobile devices. Is it easy to incorporate some description (text) with KRpano? Are there any variations for the pano menu?
Beautiful panos also Hans. The opening panorama looks fantastic on the New iPad.

Thanks Hans,
I am aware (as is Damir) that unless we keep file size to a minimum the iPad 1 will crash (iPad 2/New and iPhone 3G and above only). It is not the iOS compatibility but a memory issue. I agree that 360ViPro and KRpano are excellent alternatives.
I have just upgraded my original iPad 1 for the New iPad for this very reason. The mobile platform (IMHO) is developing at twice the rate of the PC/Mac world and we will need to adapt quickly. I personally feel iOSVR is an excellent product worthy of promoting to existing clients.
Could you please share some KRpano samples Hans? It would be nice to make the comparison.
Regards,
Morten

G'day uvresh,
Agree with Judy iOSVR is the best available. Damir (iOSVR) and his team give excellent support and are actively improving this solution. Here is a recent tour we converted;
trueview.com.au/trinity_new
This is the standard Flash link (FFC). You will be redirected according to which device you access it by. The iPad version is very smart. Check out the 'Gyro' feature if you have an iPhone 4s or iPad 2/3.
Another good choice without the frills is Martin's 360ViPro.

Morten

G'day Jon,
I am surprised that Damir would not respond promptly. You may have to account for the 10 or so hour time difference.
The website is iosvr.com/ and you can contact Damir here; sales@iosvr.com
My first impressions are very positive. I think this group has already made some excellent headway in iDevice presentations. They are already producing a couple of iTours and an App for us.
I will make sure I mention you in our next contact.
By the way I will be visiting Norway in December. Will be in Oslo, Horten (home town) and closer to you, Trondheim.
Could you organise some nice weather for us please Snow would be fine.
Regards,
Morten

G'day Tourdesign (I wish we could use a name),
I have only had a few chances to do this but it is an awesome experience.
trueview.com.au/guildford/
The first issue you will have is whether or not you can use an open door with harness. This is how I have shot the sample above. I would make every effort to brief the pilot as to exactly what you need/want to happen. Show him/her what the end result is expected to be. I did a dry run on the ground showing the pilot exactly what I planned to do. As I understand it, to hover in one spot at altitude is difficult (wind, rotation etc.). Also, a smaller helicopter (as I understand it) cannot maintain altitude (and hover) with even a light load.
The pilot I used was very helpful and actually went out of his way to practice controlled fast rotations. For us, this was the most productive method. Apparently, it is a fairly risky manoeuvre. There is a point where the all-important tail rotors pass through the chopper’s own slipstream and can put you momentarily out of control. Having fun yet? OK, I think the fast rotation is only required if you are pretty low to the ground. Higher up will have far less impact.
My camera setup included a Nikon D700 with shaved Nikon 10.5 Fisheye (used in Full frame mode). This is the widest option I have in my kit. On the ground I can get a full sphere with four shots around. I attached a Pano head in the zenith (up) position to a monopod and used a hard wired shutter trigger. Leaning out of the chopper with the monopod held out horizontally I asked the pilot to make a full rotation in around 5 seconds. I set the camera at continuous low speed shooting. This gave me around 15-20 shots (plenty). As soon as I knew the rotation was complete I shot the nadir by hanging the monopod directly below the chopper.
A necessary safety step was to use heavy duty tape around all joins and wiring. I used a boogie board wrist strap to secure the monopod and all equipment to my arm. Of course I was harnessed in and attached via a metal lanyard with emergency safety release.
I know that you were looking at one shot options. However, if that becomes difficult, I hope some of this information is helpful.

The design is excellent Jon. Very 'Terryesque'. Well done!
I am guessing you are using the latest FFC as I see there is a slight jump each time the 'auto-rotator' starts. I think there is some info on the FFC forum on how to stop this.
Congrats on making the most of your downtime.

G'day all,
Putting any personality attacks aside, there is (IMHO) still a very good reason (outside of batch stiching) to buy a Precision360 Absolute head. I started with the old ‘Panosaurus’, went to the Nodal Ninja 3, and now own 2 Absolutes an Atome and have just purchased the Adjust MKII. I believe they all have their place. The first two have not seen the light of day for some time. However, in their day they were a good choice.
I now regularly travel and work some pretty big jobs. The Absolute is my ‘go to’ workhorse. The first of these that I purchased must have produced at least a thousand panoramas, done 10,000 click stops and apart from some cosmetic scratches, still works like new. The click stops are sure, with zero slop and I see no reason why it won’t produce a thousand more panoramas. When I grab it from my kit, I don’t need to adjust anything, the camera only fits one way and sits fixed by a locating pin. Everything about it is robust and precise. Best of all, it allows me to focus on all the other elements of panoramic photography that we all know too well, can easily go wrong.
Hopefully, we will continue to see great products developed for our niche industry. From experience I can tell you that you need patience with those providing the service to our small group. Whether it’s software or hardware, there would not be many who could survive solely on our meagre spending. Be civil, be positive.

Jon,
I too had problems with the 'Oddentunet' tour on my iPad 1 and iPhone 4S. In both cases it loaded OK but when I selected the number '2' in the menu it just closed down.
I repeated it several times and for some reason it eventually worked. Sadly, I would not be happy with that 'hit-and-miss' reliability.
I mean no offence at all. It's only that I have bad memories of the early days of Virtual Tours using Java and early versions of Flash. I vowed to stick to as stable a format as possible in the future. This of course is very difficult in our ever changing environment. I would rather wait than offer something unstable.
So I am happy with 360ViPro for iDevices but may have to look at the alternatives for Android. Thanks again for your input.
Nice panos by the way Jon. I also quite like the 'skin' you mentioned.
Regards,
Morten
P.S. I would be glad to hear from anyone who can offer a iDevice and Android Tour service. I of course supply the panos, artwork and descriptions.

Thanks very much Jon and Hans. I have Pano2VR but have not yet ventured into it.
Hans was it the FPP or iTour which loaded but failed to play properly on your tablet?

G'day all,
I am trying to determine which software can make Virtual Tours that are playable on Android. I read in this forum that Android can play Flash since V2.2. Is this correct?
I created this small demo that redirects for iPhone/iPad but I'm not sure what happens with Android.
trueview.com.au/mobile/?tour=valentin&pano=balcony
It will go to a standard tour if accessed by PC or Mac.
I know that KRPano is one choice. Any other suggestions or information would be great.
Regards,
Morten
