Fast and excellent quality January 17, 2010 Mr. Clive H. Andrews (UK) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I wanted to replace my Kodak ESP3 with a printer that was fast and gave good quality colour as well as
b+w results, even on cheap (80g) paper. I was not disappointed! Also, because I wanted to keep the
Kodak running I didn't have a usb cable available (a cable is NOT suppied with the deskjet 6940).
However, I was able to connect through my Netgear router, using the supplied ethernet cable with no
trouble at all. It may not be the cheapest printer but it does have a proven track record, with many
favourable reviews, which is why I chose it over the later, less proven, model.
Too much bloatware September 17, 2009 condorman (UK) The installation on XP is long and tedious because it insists on loading a bunch of stuff that you may not need (the only choice is this 'basic' or a full install). Don't the smart folks at HP realise that people may already have photo editing software?
It took almost as much time to de-install the stuff that I did not want.
That said, it was simple to print over the network and the print quality seems quite good
Paper feed issues August 5, 2009 Beth Munro (Surrey) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Bought this printer about a year ago, and was originally very pleased with it. Good, clear prints and quite fast, plus bigger ink cartridges than my previous Canon. However, the paper feed can't handle printing special paper (Contour - with the bubble effect) or heavier paper (120gsm) without taking two pages through together so you get half your document on one sheet and half on another. If I've needed to print on either of these papers, I've had to feed them one at a time - very labour-intensive! More recently, it's started to display other paper feed problems - on a print run of more than a couple of pages, it prints the text at an slight angle, so it's not parallel to the page. It's also decided to push through the occasional plain page without printing anything, or it prints without any top margin, so I'm having to check every page. My husband used to have a HP printer at work, and he had the same problems, so guess it must be a common fault with HP. Now looking at going back to Canon.
HP Printer July 29, 2009 Mrs. Ml Deakin i am very pleased with our new printer and the quality of the prints. The printer was purchased for our small museum, where we scan and print photos from originals for exhibitions. And the quality is very good.
