click to view: Image of pyrocumulus cloud from the Waldo Canyon fire as seen from Woodland Park, Colorado, USA. Taken on 6/26/2012 the fire was approximately 7,000 acres at the time. The fire is approximately 3 miles away- perspective is deceptive: the cloud collum is about 20,000 ft high.This image was taken about 4 hours before the fire blew up and rushed down into Colorado springs- destroying several hundred houses- moving at about 300 ft/min.
