The Sunken Gardens of Phillips Park
13 Aug 2010, by zapgrafx
The Sunken Gardens of Phillips Park located in Aurora Illinois was originally built in the 1930's as a WPA project. The Gardens became a focal point of the park and a unique floral installation was incorporated into the design of the planting beds each year.
After a steady decline the garden was renovated in 2002. Each spring the garden is a blanket of color with over 10,000 tulips, which are then replaced with flowering annuals.
