Since the camera will be used mainly in portrate mode, would it not be better to rotate the lens 90 degrees so the sun shade will have a chance of doing something other than holding the lens cap on?
As for the two small screws, I would just file off the heads, remove the razor blade, then finish filing the screws down. I would assume any warrantee would be voided once you drill holes. What harm could a little more filing do?

Dennis You need to turn your brain 90 degrees.

Thats a great job on the lens, looks like a natural fit. I bet you Samyang engineers will be studying your post for their promised NEX version.

If you do some simple brain work you will understand how stupid your question is.
Just a little help for old brains. Image shows lens with shades on the long side. Now turn it 90 degrees and what do you see in the image.

The long side needed to have the shade shaved to let the lens fill more of the sensor. The short side is already clipped by the sensor so the remaining shade won't clip.
I think...

Who died and made you king? There is no such thing as stupid questions, only stupid answers.
DD,
Thanks for the very helpful response. I can now see that the lens shade can remain on the sides. Nice to see we can have a civil exchange of questions and ideas without judgment.

Thomas, it is hard to offer an exact measurement and understand that with a fisheye lens the NPP is a floating point anyway. What I can tell you is that my measurement done with a steel rule and wobbly hand shows the NPP to be 11.7mm ahead of the red ring or 1mm behind the front focus ring edge (this is "F" on your scale). I will contact you via email when I get home after tonights meeting.

Germain said: NO no no, i've got the adaptor 4/3 nex, and i want to get a ring like this for the 7.5 : store.nodalninja.com/categories/Ultimate-R1-and-R... Oh OK, you want a panohead lens ring. So far this doesn't exist. Maybe Nick is going to make one for his Nodal Ninja range? So far we haven't heard anything about this. I used mine on a NN3 MKII.

I have had discussions with Nick about a couple of designs. When my lens finally decides to show up, I will be making a couple of them. This project is on Nick's "to do" list. No estimation of delivery time.
