350D?
Thats an 2003 camera. with max 6800x3400.
In this case you get a slight benefit from 6 images as the horizontal resolution at 90 degrees is lower than centre.

But it is very little. I just made some tests on the Tokina at 12mm an it is just 5% lower than in centre. Sharpness is the same. You just need a camera with 10mp instead of 8 and you get the same quality with 4.

I would say that the max cubefaces from your 350D with good quality is 1500x1500. Your looks larger.

Hans, Yes I think I'll manage to have the same quality with only 4 around even with the same camera.

If i am using 35mm shift(zeiss pc distagon) on FF vertically
shift up and down, then stitching i will get 24mm equiv. VFOV. at a higher resolution. Will test it on nex 5 when/if i will get a testcam. Be aware canon-lens-owners wanting to adapt you lenses on nex:
Lenses will work only fully open!
I have both adapters. c/y-eos/eos/nex but only zeiss-lenses...and contax/yashica-cams....

Thanks for the extra info

I'm not sure if I should do this..anyway this sample will be deleted in one day from now, this is only for educational purposes only for those who are curious about this lens comparing with Sigma 8mm on FF, at 8mm.

this was done using the params from sigma 8mm on FF

www.livepanoramas.com/test/Canon8-15/pano_flash.h...

As you see is very close with the Sigma 8mm, the straight line remains almost straight except close to the border (again because I didn't used the correct params for this new lens, is not a lens fault)

Here's some images of the lens mounted on a 5D MKII we managed to let Canon kindly let us hold in our sweaty palms for a couple of minutes at Photokina:

Hi Dorin,

Something we have expected!? And then we have to be aware some 5, 50, 100 are delivered to different countries. First delivery goes to Pro's in general. Ok.

And then, those who are able to get one, are those to tell Canon Nikon , etc., what might be wrong with their product. Testers in advance paying full price.

Might be it is the time to send emails to canon etc from all over the world, that clients who like to buy a product do not like this behavior at all. Asking for a definite date of delivery.

We are the customer. We are going to pay.

I feel the server of Canon will have a crash with emails from all over the world. And I suppose, then they are going to listen. Cause when we do not buy their products any more because of this marketing behavior, the guys at canon etc have to buy it on their own to get payed for their work each month. And then they will listen.

Anyway Dorin,

Thx for the info.

I am looking forward to your new Pano's with 5D MKII.

and thx for all your input into forums.

Best regards,
Heinz

Frank, you are probably so right! No explicit mention of panorama making in the announcement by Canon USA: www.usa.canon.com/dlc/controller?act=GetArticleAc...
One can read << Whether you’re an underwater photographer, a wedding shooter looking for that exciting way to get a “different” picture, a commercial shooter, an HD videographer or an advanced enthusiast, this is a lens with potential you need to examine.>>
