I have to do a virtual tour for a site. What would be the cheapest solution? We speak here about time and money. How much is a panoramic camera? Or is a solution a normal camera and graphic editing software?

Welcome to the forum...

If this is a one-off requirement then your best bet would be to pay someone else to do it for you.

Absolutely agree with Andrew.

If you want to do a tour for a site, and you want it to look and feel nicely, you would need at least a couple thousand dollars for equipment and software... and then you would need a lot of learning time to handle the hardware, software and both in a combination.

The cheapest and best solution for such a project, is to find a panographer in your area to make the tour.

Costs less, and takes only days, rather than months.

I understood. Thank you very much for response. Both aspects are important, and time and money. I did not know exactly but I imagined that if I buy a camera it will be very expensive. I do not imagined instad that it is so difficult to learn. I was looking for a professional guy than.

Hi,

you can really trust these two guys and their advice. Really experianced.

They are well known on different forums and there comments are basics.

Trausti is the developer of flashificator et al, helps us a lot with his software.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, but I am still in my baby shoes of learning (size 48) ... however... I remember my own first attempts to make panos, knowing absolutely nothing about anything, and not even being forum-ized for advices from the more experienced.... it took it's toll on my time and the resulting spheres could make any photographer cry (yes, they were spheres, but I don't feel comfortable calling the results for "panos" smile )

In a situation where someone needs a single pano or a single tour, having no equipment or experience; the absolutely best solution, and cheapest, is to hire a professional to do it.

Hey Photonic, what side of canada are you on? If you where thinking of getting into Panos it will cost you some cash but not that much, $500 ish for body, $350 for lens, $200 for head and a $100 for software. If that is too much I can recommend some folks depending on where you are, East or west?

Have fun

Guy,
If panorama is something that really interests you, go ahead and buy the gear and software and make the effort to learn to do it, but if it is just a chore that you think a necessary evil, get someone else to do the work for you.

PS By the way, before you buy anything, check it out with the guys and gals here!

I did a 360 tour with a tripod and Nikon D80 and this cost me nothing!

However, I can't figure out how to do the pan up and over option. Do I buy a special lens and tripod head - What are my options please?

The pan up and over? Are you talking about taking it from a still image to a flash tour?

I guess you are saying you have shot a set of images in rotation with distant objects (nothing close in the foreground or close to the lens) and stitched them in a basic cylindrical panorama?

To shoot multiple rows that can/will include the nadir and zenith regions (or objects close to the lens) you will need a Panorama head where the exact NPP (No Parallax Position) can be maintained.

Look to decent brands capable of carrying your camera and lens correctly.

www.nodalninja.com
www.agnos.com
and the list goes on, and on.

Thanks! I'm a beginner but one step at a time.

The site I made this basic panorama for loads the new .swf window too slowly.

I would like a player embeded onto the site, should I get the 'Panorama Player'?
