Roger There are really only two that will "play" equirectangular projections;
The simpler PTViewer (Pano Tools Viewer)
And the PURE Player with many more features.
They both have their advantages

Thanks Doug, I understand this site uses PURE, so I assume it gives the best results. I've looked at PURE's website and downloaded the files but I can't figure out how to set it up. Am I right in thinking you have to produce a .IVP image, not a .JPG? My stitching programme produces .JPG so how do I convert them to IVP? Is there anywhere which gives a step by step instruction about how to install the applets and files into a site? Thanks. Roger.

Roger I'm not very familiar with the PURE Player at all.
I still primarily use the iPIX format and their proprietary Java Viewer which is set up similar to the PTViewer in a webpage
I have a working test webpage with the PTViewer that is very easy to understand.
Doesn't Immervision have a tutorial how to set it up and what formats are supported?

I made a quick visit to ImmerVision.com and looked at their Gallery page.
I use Internet Explorer and have FrontPage 98 which allows me to capture a webpage, see the html code and save it for future use.
I tried this for one of the Gallery images on www.ImmerVision.com and the code and java viewer setup looks pretty simple.
As far as producing the .ivp file type, Autodesk/Realviz Sticher Unlimited does and the PURE Player Toolkit says it can covert.
The features list for PURE Player also says it supports the "sphere" format. But you'll probably have to buy the Toolkit.

there is a user guide with examples in the free download page. download that and take a look at it. you put all your parameters in an xml file you don't need an ivp file at all. i put java on my site just last week or so. using just jpgs, xml, and fiero's autodetct script.
please at least have a look at the instructions first. if you can't figure it out from there post back and i'll see if i can't help more

Michael The cost of the PURE Player products aren't really all that much.
If I start using the PURE Player and need some help customizing it, can I bug you?
I promise to be nice

There's another one -- PanGnomic. It's a work in progress getting better. It's not the best but it's free.
Here it is spinning an equirectangular image of the Earth. Cummy image but you may get the idea.
pancyl.com/World.htm
Here it is doing an orthographic projection of sea surface temperatures. Another crummy image.
I don't have the rights to any good looking equirectangular images. If you would like to see one of your images in my viewer, email me and I'll build a page. It only takes me about two minutes to build a page.

i haven't really looked into customizing it, i was guessing that was what they would charge for, to remove their logo and stuff like that. i'm guessing that i won't be much help without actually paying for it myself either (or getting my hands on the pay version files) mmm

Hi Ken, Very good work with your player. I only saw a strange behavior when I click and drag the mouse over this red area (the movement stops):
This is a bit annoying, maybe you can fix it to make this viewer perfect. Maybe it's a bug related with "?" button.
regards! fiero

Just FYI, The applet failed to load when I tried to view any of the 360s. I have not had any problems with anyother java viewers. XP, Java Version 1.4.2_03 (build 1.4.2_03-b02)
