there-the second thread you can see what i have been argueing here for quite a long time. he is using film when extra large panos are needed. and also hdr is mentioned. roundshot d3 is said to handle 13 fstops. better than 5 inch super.i am sure they used slidefilm. when using colornegative, prefogging/afterfogging and special development i can at least get 12 fstops or more. i once had used outdated 400 asa kodak gold. exposed at 200 and pushed a bit and new kodak gold looked very bad-excessive contrast at an available-light shooting-panorama widelux 1500-140 degr. of course sometimes we need further photoshop hdr-treatments. maybe shooting an underexposted duplicate. i do not have enough practictal experience to explain. years back i burned in informations onto my panorama-contact prints 120/70mm-format in the lab.
