for the first step, please get hardware to take spherical photos. An fisheye lens, sigma 8mm f3.5 the best choice.
You did not mention if you have pano head. You'd better buy one.
Without proper lens, it's quite hard to produce good panos.
As for software, I recommend ptgui. Which is easy to use and really powerful.

It's easy to step into this field. Good luck!

AJ, what type of pano do you want to take, spherical or single-row? I assume from your questions that you want to start with single row... The basic equipment needed are camera, tripod, and preferably with a panorama head so the camera rotates around the no parallax point. Especially if you are taking shots indoors with objects close to the camera, the pano head it essential.

Your camera should have an exposure-lock function, or have the ability to lock the exposure by setting a manual mode. Also desirable is to lock the white balance for your overlapping shots. That will give you shots that match in color and exposure from one to the other.

Get that equipment, practice processing the photos with the software you have, and then come ask some more questions.

Check out the "How To" section of this site, www.panoguide.com/howto/ or the panotools wiki wiki.panotools.org/ for loads of info to help you get started.

since the original poster has disappeared, i wonder if i can continue this process here.

anyways, i have stitched my panos with ptgui with great results.

now the only problem is publishing it to the web while making it full sized.

I was browsing in the gallery and the Deval player seems to be the smoothest player to display the panoramas.

can somebody how i should start from here on?

thanks in advanced

consider/google pleinpot and/or pano2qtvr.
they can both create the HTML you require to publish panos online.

software wise i can highly recommend PTgui for stitching. for building tours it just depends on your budget.

The reason is that you do not have a link to the movie in the embed part.
<param name="src" value="1test.mov">

<embed src="movie.mov"

You have to have the link both in the params and the embed
movie.mov does not exist.

when i have devalvr downloaded to my pc, it works great.

if its on a different pc that doesnt have devalvr, it only plays in quicktime.

how can i make them download devalvr first then they can see it.

i did this in my first panorama in filesmd.com

Hi
Because of safety reasons, you cant "make" visitors install DevalVR. The best you can do, is write a small description of DevalVR, and have a link to the installation page on DevalVR website to encourage people to download it. Remember , not everyone likes installing files from unknown sites....

The whole point of the detection script is to utilise the first available viewer, if deval is absent it chooses QT.

You can even download the logo from devalVR website to include on your webpage, with a link to the site.
