There was no panoramic cameras used on the Moon.
The panoramas made was made by turning around and taking images with the Hasselblad fixed to the chest.
See my panoramas stitched from the images. Yesterday updated to modern flash panoramas in super resolution. I still need to ad some more from the last missions. www.panoramas.dk/moon/apollo-11-the-first-man-on-...
Read more about the technology on the intro page.

Hans, that is simply sensational! I was 17 and just graduated from High school in June of that year and remember it like it was yesterday..
Amazing that it's been so long since anyone has returned and even more amazing when you realize personal computers hadn't even been invented yet.
Thanks for putting it together.

Ultracool! I'm a litle confused though. www.panoramas.dk/moon/apollo-14.html for instance. How on earth (or moon) is it possible to see all the details on the shadow side of the shuttle so clearly, especially since the shadow cast on the sand rendered the sand completely black. Surely the camera side of the shuttle should be dark too? Or is the Hasselblad low-light performance so good that it was possible to boost the shadow detail?

Gus, the surface of the moon is like a sheet of paper in the light of a projector (the sun) you can shadow with your hand but the unshadowed area of the paper reflects light back to your hand.
cheers, Dorin
