You require an EOS to NEX adapter with Aperture Control.
tinyurl.com/Canon-NEX-Aperture-Control
Without it you will be stuck with a wide open lens.

Any one tried that adapter. Does it really work? The aperture is normally inside the lens. Putting a diaphragm after the lens may just cause vignetting.

Hi Nick,

I have the adapter and yes it can cause vignetting if you attempt to close it too far. f/5.6 - f/8 is fine and that is about right range for a Sigma 8mm.

HI Smooth,

Thx for the info. Does it have optical element after the diaphragm? How do you know the F-number? Is that the effective one?

Nick, there is a few versions available this one has the aperture scale on it. tinyurl.com/with-f-stops How accurate it is I haven't really tested. There is no optic. You can make a decision on the aperture by knowing what the lightmeter reads with the same shutter speed from a known source like your Canon camera with the Sigma 8 fitted with the same ISO etc. Or you can visually sight the aperture hole of a known f/stop on a manual lens.

I had to visually sight the aperture when I pinned my Nikon/NEX adapter for my Sigma lens. More art than science.

I am so glad I pinned the aperture ring. I cannot tell you how many times I bumped the ring and changed the f stop without realizing. Lost quite a few panoramas due to that mistake.

Gentlemen,

Thank you for the info. I am looking variety of them on amozon as well on ebay. I m living in Canada and I am not sure how shipping would work.

Also as you mention the pin location on the adapter aperature. is that something I have to take risk of buying it and play around until I found the sweet spot ?

Thank you

It would be sent to you via post. I buy from all over the world weekly. Allow around 21 days delivery from Hong Kong (or upgrade the delivery to express where it takes 3-5 days).

The Fotodiox Nikon adapter and the Canon adapter are very, very different. I own and use both. The aperture control on the Canon versions I have linked to are not likely to move. The fiction aperture ring is quite good. If you were to find the sweet spot you could simply tape it as you would the focus ring also.

Personally I would go with this one tinyurl.com/with-f-stops it's half the price, has f/stop markings and on top of that it's black matching the lens.

But either will do the job fine. I can say this with confidence because I have both. In fact I need to sell the KIPPON version.

Maybe this one is the best of all of them:
www.ebay.com/itm/Canon-EOS-lens-Sony-E-NEX-3-NEX5...
our adapter: max. aperture diameter of 37mm / (much larger than similar adapters)

1) due to the limitation of this type of aperture (not inserted between the front and rear lens elements, but placed behind the rear lens elements), you can not fully stop-down the aperture with this adapter... you can only stop-down up to halfway, otherwise, there will be vignetting issue..

2) although it fits all EOS (EF, EF-S) lenses... this adapter is mostly suited for telephoto EOS lenses with large aperture diameter.

I wil not buy it, i do not have EOS-lenses yet.
Will get my first EOS soon: EOS 5! Will adapt my Zeiss(C/y)-lenses.

Hello everyone...

I am checking in with the new EOS to NEX from photodiox with aperture control.

went out today on a beautiful day and did some test shot..
the result was disastrous. everyhting were blurry and out of focus...

Until i reallize that I now have to refocus so my sweet spot on the 8mm was between .5 to 1 and now it is at .2 and .3 ...

could someone let me know where I go wrong with this thing ?

Thank you
