UK self-employed VR Photographer (need advice)

Hello guys! I'm based in UK, Norfolk county. I'm trying to turn my hobby into my small business and feel myself confident. I also have full time job, but also I have a 4 days off. The question I want to ask you today, how legally register this business in UK? And what is your experience working as a self-employed? Is it possible to work without registration in revenue as self-employed? And whether you need to have a VAT registration? Actually I from eastern Europe and don't know very good UK laws... Many Thanks!

The first part of your question:
You can register your company with Companies House in London.
Second part: No idea.
Third: Not sure what you mean.
You need to register for VAT if you earn over a certain amount from the company per year; I think the limit in the UK is £50,000, but my memory could be wrong there. One thing is certain: if you are not registered for VAT, there will be few who will take your new company at face value. It is wise, if you think you can make a living from this, to be so registered.

Andrew knows basics about a lot of things.
And following him up since some years, he would be my top UK reseller. Why? Great basic knowledge, customer service and and neutral information about equipment about different branches.
My personal statement.

Hi Mark,
My advice would be "dont give up the day job"
Its a tough world out there in any line of business. The UK Market is over saturated with "virtual Tour photographers" often franchisees of established companies all hoping to make a living. The market is in the deepest recession for generations.
www.360Virtual-Tours.net has been providing virtual tours for over 6 years and its still tough.
All the best of luck.

Registering for VAT means you save 20% on the cost of new equipment related to your business (computers, stationery, cameras, lenses).
If you become self-employed, you have to register such within 3 months (?) or you get a fine.

It also means that if you do the above, ALL equipment is property of the company and not owned by you privately.
If you sell on the company and wish to keep the equipment, you privately then have to pay the VAT back to HMRC.
Been caught out on that one myself
