Samyang 8mm, Nodal Ninja 3 MkII, Canon 600D, not enough space on rail

I've got a Samyang 8mm, Nodal Ninja 3 MkII and Canon 600D. I've set up the no-parallax point, which was 9.4 on the upper rail.
The problem I have with this is I can't take a photograph pointing any higher than 55 degrees upward as the camera body gets in the way (as shown below). Any ideas?

You can be fine with zenith shoot at +55° after all, also you can buy the nadir adapter store.nodalninja.com/products/Nadir-Adapter-for-N... or upgrade to an advanced rotator which is mounted below the lower rail.
cheers, Dorin

Thanks. Seems to easily get everything in with +55 degrees as you say. Having such a pain getting this new lens calibrated. I got the no-parallax point just fine, then I get sawtooths on the nadir. Might just be a balancing act until perfection.

Using +55°, you should shoot 2 shots 180° visa versa.
Using the Nadir Adapter should solve the problem too.
What URS and LRS do you use at the moment?

Yup. Shoot 4 around @ -15 deg DOWN then 2 up @ +55 Degs (180 degs apart). No need to shoot 90 degs up.

4 around is fine with a Nikon but Esub has aCanon and 4 around gives very little overlap.
-15 degrees down is too much you get the rotator in image which is no good. I guess you need just -5 degrees to cover almost down to the rotator.
With 6 around at -5-7 1 zenith at +55 is fine. Its all very easy to test with some dummy images if you have a set with correct lens parameters to include.
I would strongly suggest though to buy one of the RD8 or 16 rotators, it will save you a lot of time working with them and then you can rotate all the way to 90 degrees.

I disagree as I get perfect results with my method. Suggest he tests both methods and then can draw his own conclusions.

I had the same problem with my NN3 MkII, RD8 rotator, Nikon D5000 and Samyang 8mm. I also have a wireless remote receiver attached by a cable in the area opposite the handgrip, and the fragile cable had been hitting the NN3.
I’ve replaced the supplied bulky knob that fastens the lower rail to RD8 rotator with a flat-head M6 screw.
I’ve added the nadir adapter. Although I seldom use it for nadirs outdoors in good light, it does add height to the NN3’s vertical rail, allowing me to swing the camera into +90˚ position for carrying.
For landscape scenes, I usually shoot 4 or 6 around at –10˚ and two up at +65˚ opposite each other. I take extra shots when shooting an area with few control points targets, such as across a large body of water. I also take extra shots in full sun where lens flares can be expected.
Enjoy your new gear!

Thanks Judy, much appreciated. I just got the nadir adaptor and it does in fact give me enough extra space to do a zenith.
