recommendations for wide-angle lens for interiors
Posted: 25 Oct 2011 at 7:12 GMT
hi all,

I am after a good WA lens for interior work that has the least amount of barrel distortion for my workhorse 550D (1.6x APS-C format sensor).

Have considered so far:
Canon EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5
the new Sigma 8-16mm f/4.5-5.6 DC HSM

What would you recommend?

cheers

Stu

I would suggest that distortion characteristics are at the bottom of the list when choosing a lens nowadays. As long as you're using lens profiles in your RAW convertor you'll pretty much never see any distortion anyway.
Sharpness, CA, flare characteristics and of course focal range are far more important factors.

I'd suggest that the 8-16 is too wide and too short at the long end too. A lot of canon crop sensor shooters rate the 10-22 very highly
